I removed the rear wheel today to get a new tire mounted. Getting the bolt for the caliper was a very frustrating challenge. I used a breaker bar to get enough leverage to turn it, but it never loosened as it came out. I needed to use full strength and the breaker bar the entire way. I'm worried that I won't be able to get it back in when I re-mount the wheel.

I was going to clean the threads and the bolt hole with acetone, please warn me if that's a bad idea.:)

Also, is there anything I can/should put on the threads that might make it easier to screw back in? I'm not a small guy and it was DIFFICULT to get that thing out.

Thanks in advance, I ran a search but didn't find anything related to this problem.

FWIW it's a '23 V7 Special Edition.

Check and see if it was cross threaded, if so chase the bolt with a die the same size,
then run a tap the same size on the bolt, keep in mind that if ut fits loose you will
have to go up a bolt size...

Hi,
I just put new tires on the V 7 III and I have had that bold out before, but this second time was a real SOB, not breaker bar SOB but annoying.

There was so much friction on the Pin end of the bolt, it left thread like marks when I removed it.
A put a bit of CopaSlip on the plain end when I was re assembling everything.
It came out like butter, a month later when I replaced the rear brake pads.

Can you clean that stuff out of the threads, is it aluminium from the Swingarm :(

Once cleaned does the caliper pivot bolt go back in « easily « ?
