I was in the Santa Cruz area over the weekend, and decided to once again attempt to ride the length of the Eagan Expressway (aka Old Hernandez Rd northwest of Coalinga in Central Cali) on the way home. It was a mud wallow last year, and I very wisely chickened out after a 1/4 mile back then, having next to no skill for that kind of riding.
Mark West had scoped it out though, at the end of the baton hand-off a couple weeks ago, and said there was a "mild @ 5-mile stretch" of dirt/gravel on it. I crossed my fingers and went for broke.....
approaching the goat:
the fun begins:
I didn't recall the part about a water crossing, but I'd come too far to turn back, and it looked passable....
The RC did great, and I got home a very happy camper!!
