Service campaign: V100 clutch master cylinder seals

I had my V100 in for it's first service yesterday. I showed this post to the service manager while I was waiting. He hadn't heard about it. The clutch did feel a bit different when I left. He didn't say anything about it though. Idle speed a was a bit higher so I guess they may have done an updated flash. Last time bike goes in unless there is a warranty issue, recall or ? that I can't address.

…I showed this post to the service manager while I was waiting. He hadn't heard about it…

This would cause me high anxiety.

Moto Guzzi issues very few campaigns and bulletins compared to other manufacturers, and to have a service manager who does not daily read the communications from the manufacturers they represent, is unacceptable to me.

Made yesterday my service at 12.000 km and clutch seal were changed. The girl (yes, not a guy but a young girl) told me that one of the 3 seals to be replaced was compromised, new parts installed. Now clutch lever feeling is much better and gears (especially 1st and 2nd) are a little easier to shift

My seals were replaced yesterday as well. I almost stalled when I took off because the clutch uptake is now shorter. This adjustment was not done on the clutch lever because it already was at its maximum to minimize clutch drag. I think that 1st gear clunk not as violent as before.

New campaign, all V100 models in stock or already sold. 30 minutes labor, 3 parts needed from Guzzi.

Hi there
I visited my dealer for another reason and asked him..by the way any news about the clutch and consequently bad / harsh shifting?...and he asked me if I was not notified about the waranty recall....he checked my vin and confirmed my V100 was include. We made an appointment and I got my clutch updated the other week. First impression is that I have pressure on my clutch leaver from the first milimeters on and that the engagement point now comes a bit later, which tells me that the clutch now makes a bigger stroke. The shifting has become much better and the clonk when engaging the 1st gear has become better too. It is a pitty that MG does not approach each V100 owner...which should not be a big deal considering the production volume!

Does any one know if MG provide a list of the VIN numbers affected?

I think it is all units either in stock or retailed already but they have to check your VIN in the system.

Contact your dealer and have them check your VIN.

I've got my repair scheduled for 15-May at Rahal Ducati Indianapolis (Piaggio service center until they get under one roof later this fall). Hopefully the "clunk" becomes a little better as others have reported on the ride home.

Are they a Guzzi dealer or will they be? Service Centers for Piaggio in the USA were a hard no when asked. Curious to know the details now.

Yeah, the Rahal Guzzi/piaggio dealership is 5 minutes from my house, but they have one service center housed in their Ducati shop on the other side of town. Rahal bought the original Ducati franchise out and relocated it to their existing location before they opened the Guzzi dealership. They are all moving under one roof (still about 5 minutes from my house) later this fall, building still under construction.

Hi all , got my seals replaced at first service ladt week . Tech said one seal was leaking a bit . Clutch action same ad before although I adjusted the lever out a bit for better engagement . Just a side note , clutch switch doesn't work , stalls when side stand down with clutch lever pulled . Anyone else have this ?

I think the bike should stall when clutch is in and side stand is down when engaging gear.
I believe the clutch switch is linked to the quick shifter.

The engine will not start or run if the bike is in gear and the side stand is down. It will start and run if the bike is in gear ,the side stand is up and the clutch is disengaged. The quick shifter has nothing to do with this system.

Hi , every other bike I've had will start if you have the side stand down , in gear and clutch pulled . Not a problem just an observation . Will have to test cruise control to see if it disconnects when clutch pulled .

Every single modern motorcycle I have ever touched, which has an interlock switch on the side stand, if you try and put the motorcycle in gear with the side stand down, the engine will stop.

Every single one.

Much much older motorcycles earlier than 1970’s , which do not have a sidestand switch, you can do virtually anything. Some relatively modern (circa 1980 and newer) motorcycles which have plain side stands without switches, can be run in gear and the sidestand down but these are exceptions to the rule (like BMW airhead twins).

Of course the cruise disconnects if you touch the clutch, touch either brake, or intentionally roll off the throttle.

Seals replaced today, the tech said that one of them was definitely torn up so it was good I brought it in before taking any trips. I can't say that my 1st gear "clunk" is any better, but glad it is replaced and new fluid nonetheless. They also reset my service wrench while it was in at no charge, so that was awesome.
