that is plant vogle. just south of augusta right on the savannah river. good riding as its sparely populated. not mountains by any means but a good ride in the boondocks
1&2 in operation, 3 and 4 waaaay over budget and soon to be done.

I'm just curious. Do you always ride with the panniers and rear case? I never use the rear case. For the first year or so I had the panniers on but now I only put them on when needed. It's a different feeling/look without the baggage.

I always did with concours. but I pack some much crap when I go to the mountains that it will be needed. many in my group strip them off when we get to mountains. I feel if I'm sport touring, I should look like a sport tourer. some strip of the panniers and just leave the back case. this is first bike with a rear case. I was using a saddleman bag on the back of the seat.
still undecided

I leave my 3 cases on my Norge all the time. Why not? It doesn't affect handling and the storage is always nice if I decide to buy something someplace. :D
That's funny you mention the handling. Last September I did a trip that required putting the 3 bags on. I had not ridden with the rear case since the day I bought the bike and rode it home. I noticed that at high speed the rear case caused a bit of an unstable feeling. It was like a slow side to side sway. I didn't like it.

Both BMW and Moto Guzzi have warnings in their owner manuals about maximum speed and maximum load in the bags (ridiculously low); the aluminum bags on the V85TT even have warning stickers inside with that message.

Like Scott, I keep the bags on most of the time because I am usually carrying something and want the space for purchases while on the road. I have never felt noticeable differences in handling/stability between having the bags on or off regardless of speed. I suppose cross winds along with triple digit speeds could cause a feeling of slight instability if conditions were just wrong since I have felt that once in a while on lighter bikes without luggage if wearing a loose-fitting jacket (changed body position slightly to eliminate it).

I recently went to the store to get ice and the V85TT did feel like I had a passenger with both panniers full of ice and groceries in the top case on the way home.

I have the stock Moto Guzzi windshield which I think is pretty small but I’m a standard issue, short and squatty Italian at 5’8 3/4” on a good day, so she works for me.

I enjoy the electric adjustability and I think the stock shield doesn’t strain the motor. A bigger windshield probably would.

I’ve read of motor and/or drive screw failures but once when I thought mine was burned out, it turned out it was dirty contacts on the standard issue Piaggio. Push button design on the Norge which was taken straight out of the scooter division. I knew exactly how to remove and clean those 2 switches and the problem was fixed.

It would be really great if everybody posted a good photo of their windshields here so we have a visual comparison!
