Hello all! Being the recent recipient of a 1980 SP1000, this seemed like a good place to be. I'm located in Moreno Valley CA (next door to Riverside) and had decided to quit riding this past year since I'm 73 and wrestling with my 800 lb. Road King was getting to be a bit of a chore. I was looking for an older lighter motorcycle and my wonderful brother made me a surprise gift of the SP. I've been riding, wrenching and racing since the late 60's and have met some Guzzi's on the race track and in the workshop but not owned one till now. I'm about to go slap some new parts on the old girl now, so arrivederci for now!

Congrats and welcome to the GT Forum & Guzzi Famiglia! Hope you’ll add your info to our Registry below. What type of racing did you do? Did Riverside Raceway run bikes? Hope to see you here often. Enjoy/Cheers.

I moved here from Michigan about '07 for the riding. I started riding in the late 60"s, saw On Any Sunday and wanted to be Malcom Smith, lol. I went from MX to Observed Trials to Hare Scrambles and some Flat Track and Ice racing, and then on to Road Racing with WERA. From there to racing Funny Bike and was doing Bonneville and El Mirage. Knew of Riverside but don't know if they ran bikes there. I'm more familiar with Grattan, Nelson Ledges, Blackhawk Farms, Mosport, Mid Ohio and Charlotte. I will add the info for your registry as soon as I snag the VIN off the papers from under the seat. Just registered it yesterday.

Good to see you here. I’m in Winchester next to you and another riding buddy just off sage rd by wine country. We are both guzzi riders and he also is an X racer. Get hold of me when you get the bike going. I might add that Todd, the owner of this site is also an X racer.

Glad to be here. Good to know there are some Guzzi riders nearby. She's already on the road, btw. I'm in the "just replacing parts as I find them" stage. She isn't pretty at all, but I rode her home from up in the Johnson Valley area. I'm kind of a work on it as I find potential problems while I'm riding. It's pretty crusty now, but I'd rather sort any problems with mechanicals before I try to gussy it up.

Ah, got it. I landed here in SoCal in '00. My moto bio HERE.
You still have some good riding in the hills out there. The SoCal coastal roads and ACH is a zoo these days.
Riverside and Ascot are two I wish I could've been part of.

Welcome !
I’m sure I’m not alone when I say, We’d like to see Before and After pictures :giggle:
Lol. I think I can handle the before pics, but it may be a wait for the after. We just wiped the dust off and cleaned the crud out of the carbs tide it home. I'm going to give it a bit of a bath this AM and start replacing some of the disintegrating rubber pieces and I need to get some new throttle cables on it so that it's a bit more "tunable" than it is right now.

Quite impressive, and similar to my earlier days. Message received on where to post. Odd that we haven't crossed paths previously.
