Just bought a 2003 California Stone Special sport and the speedo is crapped out. I got a new cable, but in checking the old one it looks like the input into the cranke case is detached from the rubber boot that is supposed to hold it in. The new speedometer cable does not come with that piece either. Anyone have suggestions on a good replacement for the speedometer or a digital solution. It currently has a veglia borletti speedo, but I have read that those are cheap and not worth the time since they tend to break easily and are expensive to replace.

A search would reveal this topic. https://www.guzzitech.com/forum/160/4757.html

At teh transmission speedometer output the fitting for the cable should have a brass ferule that locks the cable housing down. Disassemble and see if it is still there. If so, spread it open and slide the cable down through the fitting until it is seated. Then tighten the fitting. This should hold until the speedometer dies, as that will only be a matter of time.

Unfortunately the brass portion was not included on the new cable I got, but I used a hose clamp over the rubber portion to hold it in place for the time being. I think my speedo is pretty much dead too because I can't get it to read accurately at all and it jumps around erratically when i pull through the gears or rev the engine. Do you know of any aftermarket applications that will work as a replacement for the factory speedo. Also, do digital applications work on this bike?
