Stelvio Offroad

Been watching reviews but wondering if any owners can shed some light on Stevio’s offroad capabilities?!
Of course not expecting it to perform Dakar levels, but curious.
While I haven't ridden one like this yet, I can tell you that even the V85TT is a struggle in truly off-road situations. That said, there is a guy here who has ridden one on unpaved roads that may comment. In the end, it's on the rider's ability and stamina if they want to wrestle around a 250+ kg machine. You'll mostly be riding it in sand outside of Dubai, yes?

Cheers for the reply. Yes not deep sands. But gravel, mountain rocky trails as well.

I have ridden some North Georgia Forest Service roads, some in the mud. Did this with some guys on GS's and Multistrada's. Of course, no one was really pushing it and everyone "conquered" every road/trail. I did maintain a pace that kept me near the front. I found the bike to be surprisingly nimble, stable and predictable. The big limitation is suspension travel and the overall set up. It's not firm enough or dampened enough for any situation where the wheels might leave the ground. I didn't buy the bike to go off-roading, only need is to go down a dirt road to a camp site and for that it perfectly fits my needs.

Good choice. A couple of weeks ago, I test rode a V85 and a Mandello. It's a good combination to have in your stable. For me, there would be too much overlapping utility with a V100 and Stelvio combo. Of the Stelvio/V85, the V85 is more along the off-road continuum.

Yes I was thinking the same.
If there was no V100 in the scuderia for sure Stelvio would have been the one. I test drove it last week, stunner of a touring bike…. But it felt it would only suit as asphalt long distance queen.
V85TT dilemma, dealer offering me a deal for a new “23. It’s got the old screen. Wonder if the new updated screen makes such a huge difference.

Pretty similar.

Didn't buy it to do hard off-road and the tires are the limitation. Will probably get something a bit more aggressive at some point. Also need at some point to get a decent skid plate. That said, it's been great on the typical east coast gravel and pot-holed dirt. Did probably 30 miles of MDBDR and it was fine. When in doubt gas it out.

I know better than to do sand with any of these big adventure bikes - btdt. (2012 Super Tenere)

Having come from the V85TT I would never go back, especially for light dirt and gravel. The V85 is at home on twisty and sometimes rough asphalt, but then so is the Stelvio with better ergonomics and power.
