I have some rust on the reaction rod and some chips and corrosion at the swingarm probably from stones comind from the rear wheel and the gritters this winter seemed to have used more salt than ever.

Has anyone resprayed their swingarm or reaction rod and found something that closely matches the original grey?

Some automotive stores will color match the paint to your sample. When my G-11 needed some touch up on the swingarm housing, I removed the reaction rod from my Breva and brought it to them, as it was the easiest one to remove.
This was a "basecoat/clearcoat" combo. I only used the basecoat. The match was good, and the looks much improved.

i used Hammerite Silver satin - great result. then i found someone turning them out of stainless steel at a good price and bought one of them.

I found Paint codes somewhere in here. When the inquiry was made to the local autobody supply, They told me it was actually one of the best quality base/clear paints on the market. With the red on my Norge costing $330.00 per pint. Enough to paint the whole bike 2 times. I just needed to repaint the left pannier after being forced into the guardrail by an ignorant driver and decided to do the right also due to a garage incident involving a drunk ex-girlfriend,. I opted for the hobby store match up and bought a tiny can and some primer formulated to paint ABS. Its very close and no one has mentioned the ever so slight mismatch. One thing that blew my mind is how many different silver paint colors there are. over 380 different shades according to the paint guy.

Learn from my experience...

If you want a paint that absolutely nobody can match perfectly, buy a silver anything!

Silver is THE MOST difficult paint to get matched. I’ve been told this by every painter I’ve asked.

I used a bumper spray eventually which comes remarkably close. You are pushed to notice the difference the the swingarm which is the same colour.
