Tank cover removal

Im sure this has been covered. Im trying to remove the side covers from the tank and it appears that there is another screw under the wings on the tank cover. How do you get to these screws to the cover can be removed.

You remove the eagle, using a nylon fishing line or dental floss.

Why do you want to remove them? They come off with the tank as a whole. Nothing is achieved by removing them if all you are wanting to do is remove the tank.

A word of warning if removing the tank. Cover the valve covers with some protective cloth or simply remove them to prevent damage.
 
I was going to run a power lead from the battery for my Garmin zumo and go under that cover. Not a good idea I guess
 
No, I'd keep it strapped to the frame under the tank.

You do know that the GPS TomTom connector is hidden under the LH plastic steering head cover? Since you've made the decision to go with Garmin, you can easily cut off the TomTom connector and graft the Zumo one in its place.

Thus, no need to remove the tank for this.

Because I would like to have the covers repainted without removing the tank.so how does the floss or line remove the emblem .
 
Cuts the adhesive between the eagle badge and the tank outers.

Not that I've done this. I've been told this is how to remove them from the guy who repainted my tank.
 
IMG_7084.webp I also need to remove the Eagle badges on either side of the tank to take the side covers off. One of my winter projects is to wrap them with carbon fibre film.

Attached a photo of the backside of the eagle - note the small tabs on each side! You need to get a fishing line inside the tabs to loosen the adhesive tape. In case you need replacement eagles, they are around 15 Euro each. Partnumber is 2H000690 (left) and 2H000691 (right). Photo is 'borrowed' from TLM parts (eBay reseller for this part).
