I got these from the gentleman who used to run the D.O.T. here on the island of Oahu and he said he bought them about 20 years ago from a friend who I thought he said was a chef at a fancy restaurant here. I believe his name was Phil?
Neither of them seem to have gotten around to restoring and assembling these things obviously, just amassing parts to do so.
Until I looked at the titles I have here I hadn't realized the Italian's didn't use a full VIN in the 70s.
It appears that overall the entire identification thing for Moto Guzzi for a long time was total chaos. Maybe there was a bit too much Chianti flowing at lunch there for a while?!
The 1984 someone had dismantled entirely, ostensibly to paint I would think.
I'm going to have that done next week actually. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can reattach this ID plate?!
I'll need to chime in on the aforementioned thread when I get home and have all that info in front of me.
Not sure which island the doctor is on but if he owned them more than 20 years ago maybe (at least one of?) these could have been his?
These bikes and all these parts certainly have tales to tell.
I have parts that are from an automatic, an El Dorado, there's a sticker on the forks of one that says West Virginia police and I have other parts that I haven't seen pictures of anywhere on the internet so it would take a real historian to figure out what I have here.
I'm looking forward to the journey of sorting the stuff out!
Aloha,
Bobby
