Been using the SW-Motech Street Rack with the adapter plate & rack extension and a 50L wet bag, which works well. But when the wife comes along she prefers something with more back support so I bought the Givi/Kappa adapter plate to attach a hard case, but I can't make up my mind on which one (pictured was a Kappa that I tried but don't like the lines).
Likely I'll just get a pad on a top box - what top boxes have worked for you?
Otherwise I'd consider a back rest sans hard case, but I've yet to see one for our bikes.

I'm not a fan of top boxes so I've been thinking of making a folding passenger backrest but I need to find the right hinges for such an application.

Givi V47 on the SW Motech rack - Big enough for commuting, holidays etc and has a good locking mechanism (replaceable for when you can no longer get the salt, mud, insects out of the lock!). I don't need a back rest but there is one available.

I have an old backrest so I'm thinking of MacGyver'ing a bracket so I can put it on my SW-Motech adapter plate. Still, I wish someone made something for the V100 like this company pirateslair.net/ProductPLBackrests.htm made for my old bike.

The silver works well. Also I've learned filtering and lane splitting in europe can be real challenging with the side bags, so the one top box will make more sense. Plus the security of a lock that I don't have with my wet bag.

Is it strong enough to be used with such a big topcase? I remember Motech says it's good for 5Kg max...
I'm using a small monolock in mine, but wanted to go bigger so I can store 2 helmets...

Nice bike! And good point re. the capacity, but I've had twice that weight on my Motech rack with no problems - at least not yet. Motech makes a quality product. I'm thinking of the E455 monolock box as they are lighter than the monokey bags.

Formally I couldn't say other than the recommended weights. In reality, I regularly carry more than that everytime I go to work (180+ mile round trip) and I don't pack light when touring :D

It does seem sturdy, but there's a fraction of a millimeter between the rack tube and the side fairings... I did have higher spacers made for it, but didn't use them in the end.
I'm also looking to the E46 riviera (2025 model has some side coloured covers that seem to match the V100 side cases).

PS: are you from/in Portugal?
