It's been a few years. I got away from riding for a bit but my 2011 Classic Cafe for the past couple of years. But some friends that ride have gotten me to jump back on.

But at 71 I found that the crusty old body didn't like even the slight forward lean of the high mount clip ons. Some shopping got me some risers and a bar to move the grips up and back about 2.5 to 3 inches which puts me very much in a "normal" riding position for arm reach and very slight forward lean. Much like a standard. With this setup I hope to get in a few hundred kilometers of riding this fall and continue with occasional rids again next year and for a lot more to come.

To get the cables and hoses to fit I had to do a little surgery to the headlight bracket to cut away some little scoops on the upper edge which were lined with some split nylon tubing zip tied over the edges. And the clutch cable was a near thing. Instead of turning down and running around the fork tube and back it is pointed to the rear and sets up the cable to run under the handle bar and over the rear edge of the upper triple clamp and down. I had to remove and leave off the upper frame cover just above the finned voltage regulator... Or is that the engine computer? At any rate that little three sided cover had to go for a straight enough run that the cable was "just" long enough.

I've had it out for two rides now and the fun and enjoyment is back. I think part of the "holiday from riding" was due to all the club racing I did. And new hobbies that need to bring along a lot of equipment.

I'd almost forgotten how much fun it is to just ride. It's good to be back. I'll get some pics of the bike out on the road in a few days.

Have you gotten rid of your seat yet? I have a 2010 classic and have considered switching.. or at least having both and the option.
