Hi all, anyone have any clever tricks for making the cush drive line up properly so the rear wheel will go back on? I have had several small blocks over the years and have never had such trouble. It probably doesn't help that the rubbers are new. TIA.

I am assuming it's the same setup as a V7. If so, clean everything up. Then spray the rubbers and the wheel with one of the spray adhesives. I use three M high strength 90. Let them sit for a minute. That is supposed to be permanent, but it isn't. Put the rubbers on the wheel and let sit for a few minutes to cure. Then spray the wheel fins and rubbers with a lube like silicone or tire lube and they will pop right together with only a small amount of blood and cursing!

Thankfully, they fixed the new ones. Much easier to work on! Whatever idiot designed the original s/u should be castrated with a rusty knife
The 3-M sets up very fast compared to everything else I tried.

Thanks, folks. The rubbers have little extrusions on the back that stop them falling out of the hub but they don't keep them far enough apart to allow the drive thingy to slide in easily. I'll give the lube a go. Hopefully won't get any on the cast iron brake disc.

1. Take spray silicon.
2. Place cush drive rubber on paper towel.
3. Spray silicon all over cush rubber.
4. Wipe excess off with same paper towel.
5. Insert cush rubber into wheel hub.
6. Reassemble wheel.

If you are worried about oil on the rear disc from lube , you could try a plain old candle. Just rub the wax on the rubber and scrap some onto the cast iron spider, then carefully position a couple of blocks and slowly pull/ roll the wheel into place. Slowly is the word as if rushed you will just end up crushing your hands.
