The bike reaches 100kph in 5 but will not go any faster. If l go to full throttle the power decreases. If l throttle back slightly the bike goes to 100 kph again. On my most recent ride the bike seemed to lack power and the rear left muffler was starting to blue. I am not sure of the history of the bike. I bought it second hand with 6000 kms on the clock and it has now done 9000 kms. After l purchased the bike l did a full oil change including plugs. Any ideas what the issue is or do l need to take it to get the ecu checked out?

Blu'ing on muffler indicates a rather hot - lean running cylinder. By way of suggestion check the air filter and air filter box to ensure it's not blocked, additionally check for any intake leaks on the throttle bodies, especially on the same side / cylinder as the bluing muffler 😉👍🏿

Thx Steve. At the moment it's top speed is around 65 mph so l will start with the simple things first. As l do not know the full history of the bike, l probably need to take it to a dealer and get them to go right through the bike.

Today l checked air cleaner element and box. All good. Both spark plugs were a brownish grey same color and both had good spark. Checked valve clearances on both cylinders. Were OK inlet 0.15 exhaust 0.20.
Since l got the bike 12 months ago l have ridden once a week about 200kms each time. I usually like to cruise on 80 kmh so l rarely went over the speed limit of 100kmh. On the few occasions l went over 100kmh l ran into the formentioned problem. On my last trip, about 20kms, in the bike felt it was running on one cylinder for a couple of seconds then it ran OK. But this senerio repeated a few times. When l got home and looked at the left exhaust there was blueing about 5 cm from the end.
After my tinkering today the left cylinder is firing irregular. If it was a blocked fuel filter, l would think both cylinders would not fire properly though, this would probably explain the 100kmh top speed.
Any other tests l can do or is it off to the mg dealer which is 100kms away? I will take the bike in my Ute.
