Ever since I got my bike back from my first service, the left ( as sitting on it) rubber mount for the tank keeps slipping into the tank, This causes the tank to slide down on it and to the left. I tried straightening it but it just seems to need shimming. It looks like there is about 8mm of a gap to where the rubber mount should be to where it is.
Has anyone else ran into this?
I think I just need to shim it but I'm not sure if it is due to some other issue.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I have trouble visualizing the tank slipping off the rubber spacer, unless the tank has spread or deformed a lot. I took my tank off a year ago and remember that it was very tight fitting the tank back onto the spacer - I had to use some wax as a lube to help get the tank to go all the way down. It is tricky. The recess in the tank, that the spacer fits into, is angled too- not straight down or horizontal - so maybe the shop got it installed wrong.

The fuel line disconnect is tricky too! Good luck!

Question Did they remove the tank during the first service ?

Food for thought if they did , the tank is very hard to put back on due to the hard rubber pucks, If fact I thought a bout shaving some material off but thought better of it. Wonder if an impatient mechanic did not.

I agree with Draidt and Penderic; the two rubber pucks holding the tank underneath are a very tight fit. I did shave one, to no avail, and in the end just forced the tank in to fit on. Next time I won't shave, I'll actually CUT, or even replace the pucks with generic rubber ones that fit better.

Note that if you have thin hands, and the tank nut is unfastened, you may be able to reach under the tank and pluck off the pucks for inspection/cutting.

Swindsor I'm not sure what's going on with yours. Usually the tank is a tight, solid fit.

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice. I guess what I am really after is whether to live with it, and shim it myself, or take it to the dealer and go... " whats the problem here?"
The tank is wider than the mounting pucks.
I appreciate the comments and was wondering if there have been any other tank issues with anyone else.

Years ago a mate put a small depression in the side of his Triumph Thunderbird tank. In his quest to blow the ding out using compressed air, it not only bulged the whole tank so it held 2 more litres of fuel, it spread the tank outwards so the tunnel was wider and it was a very loose fit on the mounts.
