Beside the other differences noted, the V7 850 feels a little different to sit and ride on. You sit more in the bike Vs on top of the bike on the V7III. For a bigger guy like me the iii felt much smaller even with all the mods I did. The seat is far better than the V7iii so are the rear shocks and the clutch feels lighter as well. Or felt that way to me. The 850 is far better keeping you in clean air at higher speeds.

Power wise a completed uncorked and mapped V7III is great. My Milano had most of the mods you can do including a custom map from Todd. Very, very noticeable and usable difference. If it wasn't for my sizing issues I'd like still have my V7iii
Late to the party ...

When you say "for a big guy like me" what size are you? I'm 6'3" and ~220 lbs and often use custom seats and/or pads to get more room.

For someone my size, any material physical size difference between a V7 850 and the earlier models?

For perspective, I have multiple bikes, so the V7 will just be my "casual" ride.

I’m 5‘10“ and the V7 850 is fine aside from on long journeys. I find that if I’m riding for more than a couple of hours a day the position gets a bit cramped. There are higher seats that you can get, but I haven’t tried that yet. So at 6‘3“, particularly if you have longer legs, I would suggest maybe looking at the V 85.

I like the V85, but already have a Triumph Scrambler XC and BMW F800GT, covering my dirt road and sport touring needs. I like them both, so not sure I would sell both for a V85, even though it could cover both needs.
