Thanks to you Steve and Vagrant as well. I adjusted the clutch just a little tighter and the handle bar end. It had about 1/4 play and adjusted it down to 1/8 to see if it would make any difference and WOW. No more issue in finding neutral. Sometimes the simple obvious things do work. I had not even thought of trying that since the problem persisted even after the 600 mile initial service. Probably should have been caught there, but was not.

    Quite a break-in romp.

Wish I'd known you were so close -- I'm in Cross Junction, Va. -- as I and some other local Guzzisti might have given you an escort for a bit of that.

Hey guys.. I have a related question..

I just bought my first Guzzi (first bike in general, new rider) off Craigslist.. Emailed the guy at 3am and picked up the bike the next morning at 10am, so didn't do the research I should have and since I was really only looking for a Triumph I knew next to nothing about MG. Anyways, it was listed as a 2015 V7 ii Stone, I did look that year up and knew it had ABS but I did notice the Craigslist listing didn't have ABS, wasn't a deal breaker for me it was a good deal and I wanted it as soon as I saw it.

Now that I have it, looking at parts, manuals and stuff I started to realize that I didn't think this was a 2015, but a 2014. I checked the VIN and it comes up as a 2015 but the stamped date on the head stock says 5-2014. Again, not a deal breaker but as I start looking for custom parts/accessories I am a bit confused on what to order. Also, if I ever decide to sell her I should know what to say.

    Any advice or insight?

Congrats and thanks for posting Bri! F = 2015 - It is not uncommon to have a production date plate for the previous model year, as they build early and release early (except the V85TT it seems!). Same with most car companies.

Hi guys. I have always loved the look of Moto Guzzi's but this is my first experience riding one. It has been a great bike so far - only one issue I've found. When the bike is cold, 1st to 2nd takes a lot of force. Neutral is also impossible to find. Could use another 10HP, I think. Otherwise, it is fantastic.

Anyway, glad to be here, hoping I can add something to the community.

Congrats and welcome to the GT Forum & Guzzi Famiglia. I will likely combine your post here with the Registry and Pic thread, but do post your VIN# and related info there or here.
Spend some time skimming the topics here, and in the Reference section at the top of this Forum Category; It will save you a ton of hassle and frustration, like clutch adjustments that are plaguing you now.
Also, be sure to see the Store tab above. I have worked on Guzzis nearly 20 years this September. I put a ton of products online to help, and give you kore enjoyment with sound and power.
I’m sure you will enjoy the bike if you like to tinker and get to know your bike well. Most of us started with one Guzzi, and now have many. Be forewarned, they are addictive.
    Post often.

the 5 speeds would go into neutral with just a though or a flick. finding it on the six speed is like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! True even with proper clutch adjustment on mine.

Hmm. My V7III Racer shifts beautifully, perfectly, all the way through the range, all the time. I adjusted the clutch cable free play at the dealership when I took delivery, before I rode it home, and it's never changed—been perfect ever since. I adjusted it again when I installed the shorty clutch lever.

As delivered, it was a bit off ... I can't remember what direction. Same for the throttle cables. The proper adjustment is always a bit of "what the manufacturer recommends" and "what I prefer" in these things. :)

BTW, to the OP: Congrats on the new bike! I like those red valve covers on the heads, they look nice!

I guess I got lucky, my V7 III has shifted perfectly from day 1, and finding neutral has always been a piece of cake.

In fact I know I got lucky as the dealer (SG Power in Victoria, BC) must have done a perfect job of the prep work as the bike has had one one bolt that came loose in 4000KM of riding and that is it. That is the only issue at all. Not a single other thing has been less that perfect.

Thanks for all of the replies. I'll end up getting it adjusted. Valves are coming up soon, too. I need to get the service manual downloaded from here once I become a paying member.

I'll get the VIN posted up tonight.

That's awesome. So far i installed the Dart flyscreen, folding toe pegs from the gtm store, and modified the front and rear turn signals with Led to have marker lights. Next on the list is a new rear suspension. Being 185lbs its harsh like everyone says
