Does anyone know the proper way to adjust the clutch at the tranny?
My manual says to do this first before the adjustment at the clutch lever. The adjustment at the lever keeps getting out of whack. Time to do things properly.

I would think it is the same as any other Guzzi. Adjust so that when the clutch is disengaged, the part of the lever that presses on the clutch pushrod is at 90 degrees to the rod. This will give you the best mechanical advantage and travel. However, since you say the adjustment at the lever won't settle, you may have other problems. If a new bike, it may be cable stretch, or if the adjustment is going tight, it may be premature clutch plate wear.

What John said: adjust so that the lever at the clutch housing is at a right angle to the cable, and so that the lever doesn't hit the frame either when fully depressed or released.

At the base of lever by the clutch housing, you should find a threaded rod with a slot at the end, with a lock nut. Loosen, and then turn the rod to adjust.

It's really tight down there, so I wish you the best of luck.

It goes without saying that there must always be a little slack at that lever once all the adjustments have been made. If not then you can say goodbye to the thrust bearing.
