V7iii Engine Check Light - Solved

I bought a V7iii Racer just before Christmas and have been really happy with it. However, the weather here in Western North Carolina was uncooperative through much of January and February, so the carefully observed break-in period has taken longer than usual. At about 450 miles, the "Check Engine" light came on. The bike ran and sounded fine, and there was no code or message displayed. I couldn't see anything wrong, and couldn't find much diagnostic information on line, so I did what I've done with other Italian stuff: I palpated the wiring and plumbing, checked all the plugs and sockets, pulled and replaced all the fuses, and took the machine out for a brisk romp. The light was still on. So, I resorted to magic -- switched the ignition off and one three times while repeating the phrase "Marandello del Lario." Ed ecco, the light went out, and all is well with the world. Grazie, Luigi!

I believe that is a warning light to remind you to do the first service.

Thanks, Mayakovski. You may be right, but I was getting an illuminated "check engine" light displayed on the speedo face rather than the wrench icon on the info screen that I expect to see as a service reminder. Also, the "check engine" light came on at 450 miles, and the first service for this bike is scheduled to occur at about 900 miles. I suspect condensation on the left side Lambda probe, or something equally minor, was the cause of the warning. Italian electrics and engine management systems have always been a bit flaky in my experience (Ducati, Fiat, and Jeep).
 
There is a known 02-sensor condensation issue due to placement in the exhaust on the V7 III. Guzzi has not offered a remedy yet to my knowledge, just sensor replacement.
 
Best thing to do is to be sure that anytime you fire the bike up, the exhaust gets fully heated up so that it burns off any condensation... I do my best to achieve this on every ride. ... :devil: LOL!
