Hey All,

I had my Guzzi in hibernation for a good month and a half (no tender on battery). Today I had to do a quick run to deliver some diapers to my Brother. I dusted the V85TT and took it for a spin a few blocks, delivered the goods and stayed a bit to be a good uncle.

When it was time to go, the bike wouldn't start, it would turn and sputter, I noticed it had low fuel, and luckily there was a gas station down the block, bought a gas canister, and fueled up. Now the bike would turn, sputter, but the console would reset, showing a red battery sign. I took out the jumper and nothing. It the engine would turn, start up for half a sec, then the console would turn off, and start up again. I tired to give it some gas, and it would rev high for a sec, then console reset, and engine would shutoff, I did this for maybe 6 or 7 cycles. On the 8th cycle I gave it all the revs, then immediately controlled it down to "normal" rev level, and it finally stayed on. I was able to take it home, but the whole ride back the bike was jerking afraid of leaving first gear, while I had an Immediate service warning on the dash.

But now, it "toots" every now and then and when I turn it off, and on again, it will start up normal, then shoot up to 3k revs, then give me Alarm- Immediate Service. :(

Any idea what's going on?

I think a new, fully-charged battery will solve your issues. I just replaced the original battery in mine when it failed to start after stopping for gas. I had those same red warnings on the dash when the voltage dropped too low during attempts to start. All was back to normal after installing a new fully-charged battery. I killed the original battery by letting the bike sit too long a few times (deeply discharged). I now use a tender when it will sit for more than a few days.

Hey GerryAZ Thanks for the advice, I just bought a battery online. It seems the more I look around the internet the more they suggest to replace the battery as well. I also asked a couple of friends and said the same thing, but also suggested to throw a Ful Injector or Fuel Cleanear addtive in the gas tank....but I am not too sure about that.
