Went out to the bike today ready to go, gloves on. I accidentally pushed the kill button before I started bike, now it won't start.

Checked the fuses -ok, tried again, no luck. The dash lights up but I don't hear the pump. Disconnected the battery for 5 mins but no luck, still no start

Any suggestions

Sounds like an issue with the engine cut off switch. If not under warranty, time to go in and see what is going on. Perhaps some contact cleaner is needed. If under warranty, let your dealer replace the control group.

Okay this is going to sound really bad, but did you push the kill button back in. It has two positions, in for run and out for kill.

its the button. if i hold it in bike will start, if i let it go out pops out and bike stops. tried it several times and all the same result

Any springs etc going to disappear into the void if i take it off ?

Hi Jim. I haven't been in one but the possibility of springs is pretty high. Either coil or flat springs may be employed.

I would try, with bike off and key out, spraying electrical contact cleaner in the switch and
turning the switch on and off several times with bike off! Do it for a bit and then let the stuff
evaporate in the switch and try it then...

Worth a try.

Before you open the switch…

Alternately spray electrical contact cleaner into the switch WHILE repeatedly operating the switch in and out. Follow this with high pressure compressed air.

Repeat 3x.

If no improvement, then open it and look inside.

Problem solved…

Wonderful! So happy to be of assistance.

You lovely folks sure do get the issues galore from your weather there!

I honesty think the weather in Great Britain is just the toughest on motorcycles and Scotland has just got to be the toughest yet.

BTW: I adore your city so very much. One of my favorite places.

The best steak dinner I ever had in my life was at the now closed, Steak Edinburg.

They got their meat from the supplier to the Queen. Spectacular Scottish beef. 👍👍👍

They made the most awesome smoked marrow butter - simply unbelievable! ❤️.
