I did a search but was unable to find an answer.

I have E5 V85TT, I have 2 original keys, and I have set my user code. I can start bike with either key.

I purchased a new 3rd genuine MG key & had it cut as a spare but per manual I need a dealer to program the key/dash.
If I put new (3rd0 key in dash turns on and I get a request for user code which I put in, but get an error msg re immob.

per the manual the dealer has a "settings" option to program extra keys (#3 & #4).

Have I missed something? Do I need the dealer?

In previous immobilizer motorcycles, all the way up to and including the Stelvio 1200 NTX and the 1400’s, you could program a new key yourself.

Unfortunately I do not know about the platform you are on.

Have you thoroughly consulted the owners manual and service manuals? The answer may be there but it seems the default answer anymore is “contact your authorized service center” which is just preposterous and completely unacceptable to me.

UPDATE: I checked the manual, here is the text. It would appear you must go to a dealer. A dealer who was truly on the ball about the equipment they sell, should have asked the customer at the time of retail delivery.

Unfortunately, there are few if any dealers who take their representing Moto Guzzi seriously.

They just want a fast buck and to hell with customer service. It is a complete shame. 😭

Let’s get serious, in the United States, you are never less than 300-600 miles from dealer to dealer. For the longest time in all Ohio, there was ONE! Now there are 2. Go figure! 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Thanks, same text I have been reading.
Sort of makes sense from a security perspective I suppose. The factory could have programmed the blank key (or even cut it) before sending as they knew VIN's etc. However when I ordered key dealer tech said I could DIY a 3rd key...if I needed assistance would be an hours labour @ $$$$/hr. I am just concerned if I'm out for a ride & drop key somewhere & planned to carry a spare in backpack. The fact that I own the bike, have a usercode, have 2 orig keys, yet can't prog a 3rd sorta annoys me. only 1 dealer in each state here in Aust. Mine is ~1200km from me. yea almost need an oil change to see a dealer! I'll try & get dealer to do it as part of next service.
