I have less than 500 miles on my V9 Bobber and I noticed my brake light was on all the time. I traced the problem to the rear brake pedal brake light switch that opens when the pedal is released. The problem is that if the switch is not adjusted correctly or a spacer is missing, the light is on ALL the time. The switch mounting nut was still tight and the block that hits the switch was tight also but nowhere near depressing the switch. Depressing the switch manually opens the switch shutting off the RBL. Looking in the parts manual I could not see a cap or spacer that would make this set up work.

Is there something that fell out of the switch/contact block? If so is there a part number and/or diagram?

I disconnected the rear brake switch so I can still ride using the front brake. My local dealer was useless.
Thanks!

Are you sure it's the switch? I had the same thing with my Roamer, a work mate told me the brake light wasn't working. First I checked the bulb, both filaments were sound so I turned the ignition on and both filaments lit up.
I swapped the connections over and all was OK. So the brake light had been working as the tail light and the tail as the brake so it did not show when the brakes were on.

Edit-- The brighter filament lit not both.

Definitely the rear brake pedal switch. When it is disconnected it works when you use the Front Brake switch. My background is
electronics so I know how to troubleshoot electrical problems. Not sure what connection you swapped over but mine is related directly to the rear pedal switch being on when at rest (no pressure applied). There must be something missing as there is no way the switch actuator can depress the switch when at rest. Does anyone have a diagram that shows the switch clearly? It is missing something.
Thanks!

The wires that go to the tail light unit were on the wrong connections and needed swapping over. There are 2 manuals with good parts drawings, also the owners handbook available for free download if you do an internet search.

Can anyone tell me what spacer is missing in my rear brake pedal for my V9. It is not wiring, the switch, etc. It is a missing spacer
that opens the rear brake switch which is normaly closed.

Here is a photo from under my brake lever. It seems the bolt on yours is not pushing the switch, slacken the lock nut and screw it out a bit more, if there is not enough thread find the size and get a longer bolt. You mention a block, if it is a different actuator than my V9 maybe the switch is adjustable?
