• Ciao Guest, The owner of this website and GTMotoCycles.com lost his home completely on the morning of January 8th in the L.A. Wildfire Storm. Most of his neighborhood is gone, and a few friends were killed along with their pets. The GTM SHOP and STORE are functioning normally, but we DEMAND EXTREME PATIENCE on orders as we are a SMALL business and Todd usually has his hands on nearly every order before it goes out. You can find more info on a post named L.A. Wildfires in the USA section. Our heart and best go out to everyone in this horrific disaster.

I am looking at two v85tt bikes. One is new and one is lightly used. The new one includes a 2 year warranty and the used one has none left. What is chance i will end up using that warranty on a new Guzzi? I understand sometime there are issues with any new bike but are there common issues that always result in having to go in for warranty work? The used one is the better color and better options so its more what i am looking for but the new one adds the warranty. Its my first guzzi so i dont know if the warranty is a must or not. The price difference between the two is substantial, used is close to 50% less. I am quite capable of doing my own work if things come up.

I was in a similar situation and I ended up going pre-owned to save the money. I figure most modern machines are reliable enough for my purposes, which is to be used primarily as a commuter motorcycle. However, I did an oil change and the amount of metal in the old oil had me concerned, so I'll be sending the oil off for analysis in the coming weeks to make sure the engine is in good shape. The place I purchased my used machine from has a 60 day powertrain warranty on pre-owned motorcycles; perhaps your dealer offers something similar so that you have some time to make sure things are OK?

I guess it depends on how lightly used the lightly used one is and how well it's been looked after.

You don't mention prices so I guess the used one represents a reasonable saving too. I bought mine new and I did have cause to have warranty work carried out - A split plug lead and an oil leak which turned out to be incorrectly tightened sump bolts believe it or not.

These things happened early on so on that basis the used bike could well be the best bet.

However... From personal experience I'd be tempted with anything Guzzi to go as new as possible.

Thanks. I ended up getting the new one. While it wasn't as nicely equipped as the used one I couldn't argue with the under $9k price on a new adventure with all the luggage. I believe it was the cheapest in the country and they have one more left.
