Welding on bike question?

I'm making some saddlebag mounts for my Griso and wanted to know if disconnecting the battery is enough to protect the electronics when welding on the bike? Or should I disconnect the ECU too?
 
I thought about using my gas welder but I'm pretty sure that something would get warped of just plain melted.
It looks to be to much hassle to weld on the bike so I'm just going to tack it together and fit it on the bike and then finish welding once its off again. If it doesn't fit then I'll just use a bigger hammer.

Why don't you glue it? I have used carpet gripper glue or gripfill as they sell it as here for everything and anything, NEVER had a failure.

I use my mig welder on my bikes and I keep the ground clamp on the part to be welded. Usually just tacking. Then take the piece off and finish welding on the table.
When tig wilding on the bike I always maker sure the hi frequency is off. But just for drill i always disconnect the battery. DC welding usually will not bother any thing. I have seen on one ocassion when one of the older tig welders using ac with high frequency kill a magneto on a race motor. Seems it killed the magnets.
Disconnect the battery just to be safe and keep the ground clamp as close as possible to the weld.
 
I've always found it safer not to be on the bike when I'm welding.

But, I agree with Pete R. Umm on the side of caution. Sorry, that should be err on the side of caution

Also with Pete on this; remove everything even slightly familiar with IC curcuits before even thinking of welding.
The welding machines heavy current sneaking in the backdoors can kill just about everything in terms of electronic equipment!
