I looked (or made a futile attempt) to search for the meaning of the Orange Gills on the Mandello. I've seen some Owners wrap it with Gold (which looks great) but I have to imagine the Orange means something important to Moto Guzzi heritage no? If it does, than I wouldn't want to alter it as MG painted it that color for reason and would give it that extra air of authenticity. Can someone give me a brief history lesson of Orange with Moto Guzzi?

Are the under the wings? I have not noticed them. Could be a carryover from a LeMans orange on front fairing. It's the only orange I seen on a Guzzi of this age in time. I removed them on my LM3, thought it looked better just White w/black and all the black peeled off.
When my 3 was new I bought a decal kit, still unopened. One day I will ride it again, before I die.

Because they are Italian and enjoy being different!
My V7 III Special is a very Beautiful shade of blue, with orange
and silver banding and looks special indeed, I get complements
constantly from everybody! Enjoy the Italian flair... :)

I totally agree that the Italians, particularly MG, certainly provide some funk when it comes to design. But there has to be something tied to that Orange color, I can't imagine a designer picked that color and didn't realize the contrast. There has to be some MG historian here that can shed some light on it, like the Silver for Mercedes or Ferrari Red.

Their Green and Red and Greenish Yellow have history, orange I don't think so.
They use so many different colors its not funny...
