On and off when I start the bike from the side stand I get a puff of white smoke, does anyone knows what could be causing it?

There is no coolant in your motorcycle so if indeed it is white smoke then it is caused by moisture.

Are you leaving the motorcycle outside overnight? Condensation can form on the inside of the exhaust pipe which then gets heated and vaporized upon running.

Also, you may wish to take a look at your airbox and air filter to see if moisture has gotten in there and needs to be removed. There is a drain pipe at the bottom rear of the airbox. There should be a hose with a plug in it. Pop the plug and see what comes out of the drain hose. Use a paper towel to catch whatever comes out so you can look at it carefully.

If you have a motorcycle that somebody has hacked up the airbox, this would allow moisture into your induction.

You need to check these things.

Please report back your answers and findings.

The bike is kept in the garage, it started about a month ago and only does it when starting from the sidestand, I am thinking unburnt fuel from erratic spark plug, butI will try to locate the air box drain hose, thanks for your input

I am thinking unburnt fuel from erratic spark plug,

Highly unlikely and in fact, almost no chance whatsoever.

Are you sure you have white smoke?

Blue would be oil. More likely, traveling down the valve stem into combustion chamber from worn valve guides.

Flat twin BMW’s do this all the time from the side stand.

Scott, Sugarland TX is near Houston.

I have an inverse love of Texas.

The further I am from that place, the more I love it! 😆😆😆

My Dad’s family has been there since before Texas was a republic!

I used to live there too. Lubbock, Odessa, Dallas…

Happiness was Texas in my rear view mirror! 😄

A new Pope?

If it only happens whilst on the side stand that cants the bike at say, 15 degrees then you have one cylinder at rest being at 30 degrees and the other 60 degrees.
Any horizontal engine like a flat twin or K series BMW will only suffer valve or ring seepage if the head is below the horizon or at negative degrees where the oil can flow under gravity into the combustion chamber.
So, if you follow all the above it's not the valve guides or rings but something else that is influenced by canting the bike at rest.
I have had white 'smoke' emit from a Honda 750 four with the cause being a new exhaust being fitted, having it jetted too lean and white soot being ejected on start up.
So it may not be a water vapour issue at all.

Chris.
