What is the purpose of changing the setting on the bike when a larger windscreen is installed?

Tuning the windshield to obtain the least turbulence for your body shape and height.

Actually I just found out that setting sets the speed limit above which you can’t raise or lower the screen. Although interestingly my manual shows the same speed for both the small and large screen settings.

You mean while underway, right?

Surely, you can stop and do that.

On my Norge -- a model known for burning up w/s motors when at warp speed -- I frequently cheated and slowed (safely) to raise or lower it.

I also frequently greased the Archimedean screw that drove the action.

I recall -- not to be confused with fact! ;) -- that folks who thought the "rule" silly discovered that the small OEM electric motor was something like $600, and then unobtanium. :swear:

On the bright side, a desperate someone eventually found a Chinesium substitute for double digit$.

All things considered, I like my V85's approach, designed for peasants like me: it's manual. :giggle:

As Scott notes, adjusting a w's's "rake" makes a one heck of a difference.

Bill

I misunderstood it seems.

I guess there is some setting to tell the motorcycle that you’ve mounted a barn door onto the electric windshield control arms?

I haven’t been riding mine yet and still need to read the rest of the manual.
