At least it didn't fail on the road. Was cleaning the bike and thought the clutch could do with half a turn. But it wouldn't, so I took the lever off for a better look. Couldn't see this with the lever on at all.

These cables have a plastic sheath. Lube will damage the plastic. Dry lube is ok, but traditional cable lube is not.The clutch is going to feel like new...
Lube the cable before installing it..
Good catch!!
Ah thanks. Same as the Triumph then. Lube can cause the plastic sheath to swell. These cables have a plastic sheath. Lube will damage the plastic. Dry lube is ok, but traditional cable lube is not.
Unless you "fixed it until it broke"I like it when things break IN THE GARAGE AT HOME.
Felt smooth. I'm guessing because it was retained within the outer to some extent. The only real sign was that I thought it needed adjustment - Probably because there's only one bundle left on the cable.I’m surprised the clutch action didn’t feel graunchy with so many cable strands broken.
That DRI SLIDE is $60 CAD on Amazon.ca.
I keep 1-2 in stock for anyone needing one quickly. Most dealers here in SoCal do not stock them.Part number: 2B006106
May I ask which aftermarket lever you had installed? Curious which to avoid. CheersA, late, update to the (suspected) reason for the cable fraying. It was my aftermarket lever. Compared to the MG lever the cable ferrule holding hole was several mm further away from the lever pivot point causing the cable to rub in the cable adjuster slot.
I've reverted to the MG non adjustable lever and all is as smooth as butter.
I'll have to search my eBay purchases. It wasn't a named brand from memory but had something like "titanium look" in the title.May I ask which aftermarket lever you had installed? Curious which to avoid. Cheers
Pazzo levers (Todd might sell them) are fantastic. Beautiful, bulletproof and very comfortable. I replaced both stock levers on my V7 III with them and they are well worth the cost.May I ask which aftermarket lever you had installed? Curious which to avoid. Cheers
