Not trying to start out with"I am dying" but I am and don't know
how long I have left. Feeling pretty decent for what I have so I am keeping the faith
in my Lord and myself! Sitting here at home today I had a thought get in my head and
now I want to do it for fun. I want to make a diorama of the Moto Guzzi factory front and gate!
I am ordering 1/24 scale Guzzi bikes from the early years through the 70s and am going to
put them in front of the gate. I need pics from you guys that have been there to get an acurate look at it.
I would appreciate help from you guys!

Fun. I’ve been several times, but you won’t get too much better than Google (Earth is good if you’ve never downloaded it.. do). Here go;

Sorry to hear of your condition, sounds like you have your head right. On the pics, you might look in Wide mag, it is the Piaggio company thing. They had all kind of pics when rebuilding new stuff in old building.

Good lad Dave. Give me a call sometime my friend, Also send pictures of the project.

Actually, if you look in the newest Moto Guzzi hard book, you have a scale model in several pictures of the factory. I’ll post some photos later after work

Dave,

First and obviously, concerns for your condition and kudos for your "attitude."

As for your quest, not much to add. Have been to that Moto-Mecca several times, but only once did I get pix. Doh.

Anyway, here's one. Two others available, but those show little more and have no ladies but the two guys. That's a lose-lose. ;)

Seriously, most pix I've seen (understandably) have the attractive red gate closed, but "ours" -- that's Mike & Sue Craven and Kathi & I on rented Agostini Guzzis -- shows some interior if that's of any use. More recent visitors would know if Mr. Bond's pic is still just inside that entrance.

Let me (and others) know if you need anything more and, in particular, keep us posted on your project.

Best wishes in a most real, meaningful, and sincere sense,

Bill

Thanks guys, this is helping a lot! Im going with early model bikes and the latest will be a 60s V7 Sport. All di-cast replicas are from across the pond, found a few here in the States, but by the time you add shipping from Europe or Australia the damn things cost $30.00 bucks or more! Crazy crap. And Brian I will give you a call over the next few days. This last immuno round beat my ass real good. Thank you all very much! :D

Depending of how discerning you are about the quality of the models for you diorama, there are some more budget friendly versions… that might not be quite as “Accurate”

Ok, Some of the Red plastic spoke wheels are um… pretty ugly… but some of the others don’t look “too” bad.
If you aren’t above doing a little filing and painting, you could improve on them.

Sent Dave a Christmas message & got this from his wife. Just so you know..

Hi Steve, this is Dave's wife, Sonja. 2 weeks ago Dave's treatment was stopped and he was put on home hospice. He's still with us, but he's declining and unable to read or process much. I just wanted to let you know he loved this forum and everyone. You were all so kind. It meant everything to him. Thank you so much.

2 guys with cancer riding bikes around South Dakota with not a care in the world, and the bravest guy I’ve known riding for 2 days when really he seemed to have little energy, but he was too classy to complain…so off we went to see Mt Rushmore and the Needles, with him riding the cleanest pair of bikes I’ve ever seen a V7 and S Stornello that never looked that good brand new follow by his friend Eric on a R1100 rat bike and me on a Concours with an extra 20lbs of flies from Washington/Idaho/Montana/Wyoming and South Dakota. Best rides ever, and another was planned for the Spring. Great guy

To David, so his wife could read it to him
" I wish you all the best in the world my friend. I heard from the Guzzitech site that Sonja communicated the sad news about your health. I think of you every day and the moments that we shared meant so much to me. One day we will ride together again on days with endless sun, smooth roads, free gas and new tyres every week. God bless and love from your Canadian brother"

First, @V7Steve, thank you for posting this.

Sonja, not sure you will see this here, so I'll try the DM route, too.

You have the respect and sympathy of countless Guzzisti -- posters and lurkers alike -- who have followed this thread for your courage in this struggle. Many of us are "of a certain age," meaning that we have known many family and friends who have faced what you are now, and what we all will in time.

Kathi and I just talked about your own sweet kindness in passing along Dave's feelings about Moto Guzzis and this forum. Most of us only know Dave from his many posts, in which he warmly welcomed newcomers, helped with technical issues, or sympathized with those confronting mechanical conumdrums.

Dave, if somehow you see or hear this, know that your fellow Moto Guzzi enthusiasts look forward to gathering together to bench race "on the other side."

The warmest of regards,

Bill Hagan

You are fortunate to have had the opportunity to ride together and share the passion!
DM Sent.

Thanks for the post Brian. Disease deaths suck. Godspeed David. Enjoy twisting the throttle high above.
If you want to ask Sonja if she wants me to add a memorial and/or archive his account here, happy to do so.
