This is a tough one for me. Through all I have endured over the years, this one has hit me the hardest. On Tuesday evening the 7th, my home (as one of most in my neighborhood) burned to the ground. Only ashes are left. While I was insured, it was massively underinsured as we faced cancellation if not, like many others did, and many had none after just days into the New Year cancellation sweep.
The scale and speed of the Palisades Fire is inconceivable. It is larger than all of Manhattan to my East Coast friends. Then there’s the Eaton/Altadena fire which was equally as devastating. I have lost friends, and those friends have lost generations of Family homes and worse. I'm apolitical, and will delete any comments that turn in that direction. Please lets focus on getting people onto their feet, as this will likely take a decade or more to get even remotely close to normalcy here. My whole area as I knew it for the last 15 years has been forever changed. I know people think Coastal L.A. is full of wealth and celebrities, but most of them that I know are simply hardworking self-made normal people. The amount of free professional offerings within my community has been overwhelmingly incredible, including doctors and medical professionals. To date, we have lost four neighbors in the fire. No one can get back still, so I fear how much more that number will rise, from the personal horror stories from our neighborhood group chat.
Thankfully I was already away (another personal tragedy I can't talk about right now), so ALL of my personal property was lost. Years of memories and gear too. My shop is an hour south of my home, so all is OK there.
I am not one to ask for help. As of right now, I don't need much, but I would like to extend a hand and financial offerings to the many who do need it, including the Santa Monica Mountain Wildlife and Mammal rescue.
My younger sister started a GoFundMe linked below, which I will donate as much as I can from what I collect. You can DONATE via the site here on the link (also top of every page or drop down menu on mobile devices)
I greatly appreciate all of the thoughts and words, both here and direct (but please hold direct communication for now).

Satellite imagery from 10pm on the 7th, to 5am on the 8th…

I donated through the site here, no fees ( tips ) like Go Fund Me has ( Todd gets all of it )

What a horrible thing to go thru. Donation made thru go fund me. My brother went through this in 03 in San Diego and it is devastating. My thoughts and prayers are with you Todd.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you. I’m so sorry to hear this. Thank you for pointing out how we can help with funds to the animal rescue. I have some experience in my previous public sector work life regarding community disasters and recovery. I am available to chat if it helps. —Pete

So sorry to hear this Todd, what can anybody say…the footage has been shocking to watch, cannot imagine how you feel.
Donated and shared.
Shout out to Todd's sister Amy for setting up the GoFundMe site! I had the honor of meeting her a couple of years ago when my bike broke down near Todd's place. (LUCKY) She drove down to meet me and assured me that Todd was on the way. Sometimes, you meet someone, and you IMMEDIATELY know they are THE BEST. Same with Todd as with Amy. She is one good gal to have in your corner, Todd. Family flat out RULES!

This is a brutal situation that you and your entire neighborhood are dealing with.
I don't have words.....

I made a donation, hope you can get back on your feet relatively quickly.

Guys, thank you so much to the small handful few who have donated. I still cannot get home to see what is left.
I look forward to getting back and see how I can lend a hand to my neighbors and friends, and I will visit both Animal/Mammal rescues then as well with a donation to each.

Todd - I'm so sorry to hear about this utter devastation you and your community are going through. I can't even begin to imagine - I hope things get better for you and your community soon.

I was able to make a small donation, and hopefully will be able to make another more substantial one soon.

Todd, I suffered loss from Hurricane Michael back in 2018 but nothing like your loss from the fires. I just donated through the GuzziTech web site.

Todd, I think I have a credit with you for $150 US or round about that figure. Please donate this to your recovery.
Much appreciated. I still am not able to get back to my property.

MUCH appreciated as well. As a former East Coaster, I am well aware of what horrendous damage Hurricanes are capable of. I visited the Keys just after the last big one. My parents are inland St. Augustine.
It looks as though (what I imagine) a nuclear bomb exploded here. Everything is leveled and charred.

Todd, when devastation strikes at a certain scale, no one person can truly absorb it, I think you go into a numbness just to be able to scatter around trying to hold things up. I am sorry for you and all those affected! It is just getting worse, these days and is showing up the great, underlying issues (Titanic icebergs) of cracks, not just in the roads we ride but in society in general. I feel for those that lost things, but mostly for those that lost loved ones, as even if you have insurance that might cover things, it cannot recover life. The answer of true Peace will come. I believe it completely. (Rev 21:3,4)
Hang on my brother.

I’m still not easily able to get back to see my home remains in person. Donations still appreciated, as I’ve had more cancellations here in the last few weeks than I’ve had donations. I may have to take this site down for several months.
