• NOTICE: The owner of this website and GTMotoCycles.com completely lost his home on the morning of January 8th in the L.A. Wildfire Storm. Most of his neighborhood is gone, and a few friends were killed along with their pets. The GTM SHOP and STORE are functioning normally, but we DEMAND EXTREME PATIENCE on orders as we are a SMALL business and Todd usually has his hands on nearly every order before it goes out. You can find more info on a post named L.A. Wildfires in the USA section. Our heart and best go out to everyone effected in this horrific disaster.

L.A. Wildfires

The obvious implication is that cancellations are due to fire losses. I cannot begin to imagine the extent to which many small businesses will suffer from what has and is currently happening. While I live too far away to avail myself of any service-related activities, I will direct all Guzzi-related purchases your way. And in that vein, what do you have in the way of helmets and Cardo Communication systems? I need to replace the 2 Schuberths my wife and I wear and update our PACHTALK BOLD comms.

This is a tough one for me. Through all I have endured over the years, this one has hit me the hardest. On Tuesday evening the 7th, my home (as one of most in my neighborhood) burned to the ground. Only ashes are left. While I was insured, it was massively underinsured as we faced cancellation if not, like many others did, and many had none after just days into the New Year cancellation sweep.
The scale and speed of the Palisades Fire is inconceivable. It is larger than all of Manhattan to my East Coast friends. Then there’s the Eaton/Altadena fire which was equally as devastating. I have lost friends, and those friends have lost generations of Family homes and worse. I'm apolitical, and will delete any comments that turn in that direction. Please lets focus on getting people onto their feet, as this will likely take a decade or more to get even remotely close to normalcy here. My whole area as I knew it for the last 15 years has been forever changed. I know people think Coastal L.A. is full of wealth and celebrities, but most of them that I know are simply hardworking self-made normal people. The amount of free professional offerings within my community has been overwhelmingly incredible, including doctors and medical professionals. To date, we have lost four neighbors in the fire. No one can get back still, so I fear how much more that number will rise, from the personal horror stories from our neighborhood group chat.
Thankfully I was already away (another personal tragedy I can't talk about right now), so ALL of my personal property was lost. Years of memories and gear too. My shop is an hour south of my home, so all is OK there.
I am not one to ask for help. As of right now, I don't need much, but I would like to extend a hand and financial offerings to the many who do need it, including the Santa Monica Mountain Wildlife and Mammal rescue.
My younger sister started a GoFundMe linked below, which I will donate as much as I can from what I collect. You can DONATE via the site here on the link (also top of every page or drop down menu on mobile devices)
I greatly appreciate all of the thoughts and words, both here and direct (but please hold direct communication for now).

Satellite imagery from 10pm on the 7th, to 5am on the 8th…

Made a donation here. My heart goes out to you and your community.

I lost my home to Hurricane Ike storm surge in 2008. All that was left was a clean slab, a picture in a field, and some plates and bowls scattered about (of all things). We knew it was coming so were able to save keepsakes and the stuff you really miss after a disaster. I look back on it a think it was a small blessing to not have to come back to devastation like what is happening in California, although others in my area didn't get that grace and had significant cleanup. The hardest part for us was what came after all the adrenaline subsided and we had to chart a path forward.

My family's heart goes out to you and yours. Please let people know what you need in the weeks in months ahead. The news cycle has a very short memory, but recovering from these losses takes time.

MotoDad, I am sorry for your loss as well. I cannot imagine the depth of anyone's loss after losing a home, a neighborhood, friends, pets, community, the shock of what happened and the monumental task of going forward. I doubt anyone ever really recovers. Maybe it's like losing your mom or your dad or a brother or sister. You never recover.

You are truly right that the news cycle has a short memory. I find it appalling, for example, that the once front page news of the recent devastating and ongoing fires around Los Angeles has been relegated to small mentions, if any, on back pages. The devastation remains. The people who have survived, but lost everything, did not simply go away. Again, I am sorry for your loss, and theirs.

Thanks to everyone who has donated to help out Todd. You've read the message that says the website may vanish for a few months (or forever?) due to lack of funds. There are well over 27,000 forum members. A small handful of the usual members have donated, some more than once. I'm reminding the other 27,000 members to please give what you can. Even a dollar or two, if budgets are tight, and more if it can be afforded. There is power in many people committing to the same goal.

MotoDad, thank you.

G'day Todd, And possible others on this forum affected by those horrendous LA wildfires. So so sorry to hear of all the devastation caused to you all. May you get the help you need without more trauma from either nature or your fellow humans.
Hang in There & Good Luck!!
Viewing those awful images from afar reminded me very much of the similar, but vastly smaller urban tragedy that was "Canberra 2003" and our hugely devastating "Black Summer 2019-20" here in Australia.
"There is power in many people committing to the same goal." There is indeed PB. Well said.
After trying, unsuccessfully, to make a small donation on this site just prior to this post I will try again today once the "International" settings on my cards have reset themselves. FraserR, Australia

Gutted to know how much you lost to the fires Todd. I decided to share the go fund me on my FB feed to hopefully be re shared.
I'm fairly certain our paths cross again at GTM.
I'm a licensed crane operator and if my services can benefit you rebuilding Please let me know.

Thank you again to the small few who have donated. I am struggling to sustain with expenses right now.
@NorgeCapt.Bob - appreciated and I might reach out to you for your services.

If you really want to help, please purchase some GTM products from the online STORE linked below. I will be refunding shipping on orders over $150 on products that we have in stock. Anything not stocked, does not get free shipping.

I can't imagine the impact of suddenly losing your home to fire. Since joining this forum quite a few years ago, it has been on my wish list to fly over from Europe and rent a Guzzi from Todd and enjoy riding around the Malibu area. Anyway, I've made a donation here. Hopefully, other forum members will continue to show their support.

Sinking fast here guys. Donations here yesterday, $20. GTM Sales $0.
Thank you again to the dozen or so generous donations who posted above.
A "dozen or so" out of 27,700 forum members. "Drive-by posters" might as well be "drive-by shooters". Those of us who have donated cannot make this work by ourselves. I guess Todd is finding out who his real friends are. For you who simply cannot donate, I get it; you have your own trials to deal with. For you who simply choose not to: you won't miss your water until the well runs dry. For those of us who care: I'm preaching to the choir.

This is disappointing, with so many members on this forum getting your support with our beloved bikes. I would have expected for everyone to step up and help you in a time of need.

Could it be that not many people check this part of the forum? I know I mostly only browse on the V7/V85/V9 Chat & Tech and don't stray much out of that section.

Just made a second donation.
Directly to GTM this time, instead of of through the gofund me page.

It is, and could be. I highlighted a post at the very top of every page, but no one reads anything these days. Perhaps I'll send a system email to everyone here about it.
Thanks so much for the second donation. I promoted your Forum profile in thanks as well.

Thanks much again to the small handful few that have donated. All $ amounts are greatly appreciated. The several larger anonymous GFM donations will go a long way, so a special thanks to them.
