04 Stone fuel line failure

My 04 stone has blown the fuel line off of the fuel pump again, 700 miles after the last time this happened, despite having upgraded to a better quality fuel line as advised by the folks at Moto International. The real problem is not the hose, but the lack of a barb on the end of the fuel pump outlet. I really cranked down hard on the hose clamp this time, but I suspect it is only a matter of time before it comes off again. Has anyone else solved this problem permanently, like with a different fuel pump that has a proper barb to keep the hose on? Or do I have an odd or defective fuel pump? Any ideas?

I have solved similar problems by safety-wiring the hose to the pump body. Two turns of stainless wires twisted and secured to the pump should do it. Use in conjunction with hose clamps for double indemnity (wasn't that an old movie?).

Hey Ralph, you can tell I'm getting right on the response to your suggestion, but now it has been so long I can give you a 1000 mile report on the effectiveness of a very, very, very tight hose clamp--so far, no walking!

I'm not keen on walking, either. I like the backup of safety wire as over-tightening a hose clamp can lead to possible clamp failure or damage to the hose itself. BMW fuel hose clamps are very good.

I clamped a submersible hose very tight, only to crack the hose and then failure, again. This last time I have used the old clamps and am pulling the pump out again because the bike will not start.
