I would like to fit an oil pressure gauge to my 1200 Sport 2V.
There is no room to piggy back the sensor. Has anybody fitted one and where did they take the pressure line from?
I was told there are some blanked off ports that can be used. Which ones?
Thanks in advance.

I believe you are creating a problem that doesn't need a solution. Personally I wouldn't bother to add an oil pressure gauge. The low pressure sensor is enough.

Problem with just having a sensor is that it only lights up when there is no pressure which is too late to prevent damage, especially if it lights up when you are cruising at high speed on a main highway. Not so much of a problem on start up. With a gauge, if the pressure starts dropping you can see it straight away and prevent any damage. Prevention rather than the cure.

The likelihood of that happening is extremely low. I believe the sensor requires at least 5 psi to to break contact.

John is corrrect BTW. What I thought of doing but did not was tapping into the oil cooler line? You might think about that.

2 issues not likely to happen at same time, no oil pressure from pump & faulty switch. I ran my Cal2 for over 20 yrs with a dead sensor and it has over 100Kmi on it. Years ago the guys w/gauge came out where sensor is w/a 90* elbow for the line.

An oil pressure gauge is sure to drive you crazy.....is it the just the gauge, or is my engine wearing out, or am I using too light oil, or maybe it is the heat. You are also introducing another point of possible failure if you use a mechanical gauge with an oil line from a pressurized gallery. These engines all run a thermostat, so the cooler line is useless.
A few years ago a fellow named Greg Field mounted a gauge on his V-11 Sport. There may be a utube video out there. He tapped into the galleries in the oil pan.
My guess is the rocker feed line would read full pressure, probably about 75 psi.
I would not go there.
