I didn't know there was a section for small blocks. Sorry for posting this on two sections but here's my problem:
I'm trying to figure out what goes in this big gaping hole on the top of the crank case close to the right cylinder. I think its a breather hose but not sure. I bought this bike like this so have no clue. From the parts manual it looks like a breather hose that splits. Also if it is a breather hose, where does the open end of the hose go? Does it just hang down towards the street. I called MG Cycle to order parts but they weren't sure what I was talking about. Thanks for all your help. I posted some pictures of it on my Photobucket account here:

Doing more research, I see that my bike doesn't have the air box assembly but instead has two tapered air filters. One coming from the back end of each carb. Maybe this hole in the crank case goes to the air box? Looks like I bit off more than I can chew with this one. Thanks for your help.

Eugene-

Congratulations! You have discovered the V50III secret hole to nowhere. This is a blank in the casting and it means nada. No kidding, stick a pencil down there.

There is a crankcase breather over the transmission in the middle of the case. Look in from the side- it will be under the battery. It's a standard mod to fit a hose barb in the breather hole, then attach a piece of tubing that you can snake up along the frame. If you don't fit this extension, then the breather will burp up lube all over the top of your trans.

If the bike is new to you, shoot me an email and i can give you a project list of standard mods and fixes.

Hey!
Being new member of this forum, new owner of a Lario '86 I'm trying to find out what mods are being done and which specs. are changed to this bike. My bike doesn't have the breather mod and whines in all gears from 2000 to 5000rpm. Sounds a little better after changing to Redline Chockproof.

To boatdetective: I would be thankful if you would mail me your projectlist for this model.

Until this bike my only Guzzi experience is bigblock, 850T '74 since '84 (with sidecar), 850T3 '76 (RIP), and since 2003 850T3 Cal. '81.

I really like the handling and performance of this bike and it seems for us being the perfect complement to the California.
