1997 California 1100i not getting to speed

Or , do what I did to my 2001 Jackal motor I got last spring . Got rid of the injectors completely and installed a couple of 30mm dell'ortos and then chiseled out the covered timing hole to fit a points distributor along with a t3 cam I had lying around ( it has the distributor worm drive on it) . I t runs very well and starts faster than my 2020 T-120 Triumph  . Sure it's a bit of work , but heck winter's almost here , and I haven't touched anything in 5000kms and it gets 40mpg(US) .
Got it to work - see my reply to the other guy!

Might have been on the other thread - I am new to the group and still learning how to post, react and separate who is who.
Apologies if I mistook you for someone else…

Same here 😂
I’m happy beyond belief that I figured out what was wrong and was able to fix it.
Ready to explore TX and the south - now by bike!

Good rides to you too.
Andreas

I picked up the bike in TN out of a kind of museum. Rust in the tank was discovered and we installed an in line filter before the fuel pump and I left with a couple spare cartridges and a can of cleaner. I had not ridden a bike in over 30 years but was surprised when hitting the highway that I couldn't go faster than 80 mph and the engine had no punch. Cutting the story short, I limped almost all the way home until the filter changes didn't do any good anymore.
Trailered the last 120 miles to home (Woodlands, TX). Bought a new fuel pump, fuel filter, petcocks and exchanged all fuels lines. Also of course cleaned, washed, de-rusted and then coated the tank.
She started up fine and ran kind of ok but still no punch, I then pulled the spark plugs (see photo) ands shocked to see that the right cylinder didn't seem to get any juice.
Pulled and cleaned the injectors...everything find now - finally got a Guzzi!
