First ride after my first service. Riding down the 76 when many light’s blossomed on my dash. Big message “engine fault” flashes on screen. Bike is running but you can feel something is off. Shut bike off and coast down to the local burrito shop in neutral. Go to check oil, about a quart goes everywhere. Stupid design for the dip stick!!! So I will have to tow the bike to the dealer and hope nothing to bad is wrong!

Hope they get you back on the road soon. I recall a recent post saying that a faulty rpm sensor caused symptoms similar to yours.

Yes, the rpm sensor was my bike/problem… but, in my case, it ran fine, but after about 8-10 miles, would just shut itself down. It would restart, but do it again and again. Bike is fixed now, and runs great. I did get an alert message in the pop up section at the bottom of the TFT… but, not engine fault. I hope it’s nothing serious. I guess the more bikes that get into the wild, the more issues we’ll hear about.

Heyzeus - have you had the first 900 mile service yet? If so, perhaps something related(?), if this happened afterward.

Good luck - hope you’re up and running soon!

It's virtually impossible to check the oil level by yourself without a stand. Really stupid design.

For those who aren't aware, the oil sight glass shown in early pictures of the bike was removed. There is now a dipstick instead on the left side of the bike. When the bike is on the side stand, the oil level is actually higher than the dipstick cap. So remove the dipstick and oil spills everywhere. I actually tried checking the oil level while sitting on the bike just to balance it, but this was pretty difficult. Maybe Moto Guzzi really just wants to sell center stands.

Hmmm🤔… I sure hope they didn’t unintentionally overlook something putting the filter on or buttoning things up. That’s why I asked🥹. Let us know… good luck👍.

Buy the optional centrestand. It works perfectly on V100S and is easier to use than most bikes I have owned. It is sturdy and tucked in far enough that it won't drag.

Funny, but the early prototypes had a oil sight window on the right side. You can still see the casting mark for it. Probably a victim of cost cutting.

Rumors say that the engine was originally thought to have less liters capacity (arond 3.5 or 4 liters), then capacity has been increased (needed by clutch?) and sight glass was no more in the right place. It was removed and a dip stick replaced it.

It is only rumors I have no idea if it is true or not.

Not rumors, it's the truth.
The original design was to have 3,50 liters, but they increased oil quantity to 4,9......

Talking with some friends living closer to Mandello seems that probably this depends from the clutch located in a high position.... whit the original oil quantity it had some overheating issue

I made sure to order one when I was selecting accessories for mine; they sure come in handy. Hope it isn't on back order as my bike is due to arrive next week.

What was the issue that triggered the message ?
I was just cruising down the 76 hwy. I was not on the throttle. Lights started blinking and the bike was running funny. I shut it off and pulled over. Coasted with the bike off down the hill to a local taco shop and waited for the tow truck.
