I'm in the process of changing the airbox into an aftermarket one.

I've noticed that the blowby pipe going into airbox is connected as in the attached pics.

the RED hose is going into the airbox's blowby connector

Question 1:
is the GREEN hose coming from the engine's crank, i.e. it contains the blowby mixture ?

Question 2:
With the original airbox, there is a hole at the back of the blowby section, which I assume allows the "filtered" blowby to get back into the airbox and through the throttle again. How "clean" is this "filtered" blowby? does it still contain heaps of oil, carbon etc? Is it legal to let this "filtered" blowby out ?

Question 3:
Has anyone fitted an aftermarket air filter, with a better blowby catcher? If so can link to product?

I'm fitting a Unifilter air filter to my V7II:
https://www.uniflow.com.au/contents/en-us/d12_pc2pod.html

I'm thinking that I'm gonna have to fabricate something that returns the filtered air back into the airfilter.

One last question:

How do you remove this metal clip? It doesn't have a screw you can adjust to untighten it.
Cheers

Hi,

Weird that it goes into the frames down tube.

You could try putting a catch can / small filter on the crankcase ventilation hose that used to feed back into the air box ?

Good luck, have Fun !

I checked the engine manual, yes it looks like the GREEN hose is coming from the cylinder head case, and it is the blowby. This goes into the frame and out the other end into the RED hose and into the airbox filter.

I think the clamps used are like the low profile Oetiker clamps e.g. https://www.oetiker.com/en/Products/Clamps-and-rings/Low-Profile-Clamps

don't think they can be used, need to snip them.

If anyone knows any better let me know cheers

In response to your question 3, I fitted an oil catch-can to my V7 Cafe. I purchased my bike used with no airbox, two ill-fitting K&N air filters and a pitiful oil catch-can arrangement with no drain. This was an unacceptable modification in my mind.

So, I replaced the K&N filters with Uni filters and installed a generic catch can with a filtered vent. I installed a tube from each valve cover to the top of the catch-can and then ran a drain line from the bottom of the can down to the crankcase. I retained the Moto Guzzi check valve to prevent oil from flowing out of the crankcase and back up to the catch-can. You can just see the catch-can mounted between the cylinders in the following pic. Also shown are the Uni filters and the catch can before installation.

I hope this helps.

I will be interesting to see what / how much if any oil you get in the can.
When I put the bike away for the Winter i'll pull the filter and see if I have a pool of oil in the breather box !

On my setup there shouldn't be any oil in the catch-can. I have a drain line connected to the bottom of the can and the other end is connected to the crankcase with an in line check valve.
