• Ciao Guest, The owner of this website and GTMotoCycles.com lost his home completely on the morning of January 8th in the L.A. Wildfire Storm. Most of his neighborhood is gone, and a few friends were killed along with their pets. The GTM SHOP and STORE are functioning normally, but we DEMAND EXTREME PATIENCE on orders as we are a SMALL business and Todd usually has his hands on nearly every order before it goes out. You can find more info on a post named L.A. Wildfires in the USA section. Our heart and best go out to everyone in this horrific disaster.

Just bought a V9 Bobber and am trying to program a new user code. The manual is no help in telling me how to get into the Programing mode for functions like display backlight inserting new user code etc. Talked to the dealer and got the answer "do not worry about it"

Don't have access to a V9 owners manual, but the V7-III manual shows this for the backlighting adjustment.

Backlight "Instrument backlighting adjustment"
Backlighting of instruments and gauges (needles of scales and displays) can be ad-
justed at three levels.
This parameter may be adjusted during the initial check cycle. Press the "MODE"
button and quickly release to access the function. Press the "MODE" button to display
the following levels:
- 1 (Minimum)
- 2 (Medium)
- 3 (Maximum)
After three seconds with no input from the "MODE" button, or once the vehicle speed
exceeds 5 km/h (3.11 mph), the value is stored and the display returns to trip journal
mode.

The models are fairly similar, it might apply to your V9 too.

Thank you, after I read your post I was hopeful but nada. I can get into the clock adjust mode by going to the clock screen and holding in the "Mode" button, but they procedure does not work on anything else.
The backlight mode worked as you suggested but nothing else.
According to the manual you can get into options mode to set several parameters but the book is silent on how you get into the "options" mode.
I tried every possible combinations but no luck this far.

Yep, there isn't the options that previous models had. On the V7-III you are limited to 1-9 below:-

• Press the "MODE" button quickly and release to scroll between the menu
options.
• Press the "MODE" button and hold it down to reset the trip journal parameter
or confirm the selected parameter.

Press the selector to cycle through the following functions in sequence:
1) TOTAL ODOMETER (ODOMETER)
2) TRIP ODOMETER "1" (TRIP)
3) TRIP ODOMETER "2" (TRIP)
4) RIDING TIME (TIME)
5) AVERAGE SPEED (AVERAGE)
6) AVERAGE FUEL CONSUMPTION (AVG FUEL)
7) CURRENT FUEL CONSUMPTION (FUEL)
8) EXTERNAL TEMPERATURE (TEMP)
9) CLOCK (CLOCK)

And under "Advanced Functions" there is:-

Trip Fuel "Distance travelled in reserve"

Backlight "Instrument backlighting adjustment"

Instrument panel configuration
Press and hold down the "MODE" button when in "ODOMETER" mode to access the
following advanced functions:
1) Gear shift indicator threshold (SET GEAR SHIFT)
2) Change odometer unit of measurement (SELECT UNIT (Km/mi))
3) Change consumption indicator unit of measurement (SELECT UNIT (L/100 - Km/
L - US mpg - IMP mpg))
4) Change thermometer unit of measurement (SET UNIT °C - °F)

That's all I can find. I don't remember inserting a use code, or any opportunity to enter any other codes.
If you find something, please post.

kiwi dave, thank you for your help.

I do not know if this is a V9 option or relates to year 2017 on however in addition to what you stated above you also get options for "User Code Modification" and "User Code Recovery".

The factory ships with user code "00000" and it would be logical to assume that there is no need to change that. But then you get the message to input your personal code every time you start the bike up, and it might bother some as it did mine. I changed mine to a never forget "12345". :)

I just got a V9 Bobber and it's asking me for a user code. Pressing and holding the Mode button does nothing. I get no other menu or anything. I can't even start the bike by bypassing this in any way. Help please! I don't have a manual and tried to download the one on this forum and it says I don't have access even though I'm logged in. Jeez!

Since you are a contributor you should have access. Use the contact tab in the Store to ask why you don't have access. It can be corrected by the Administrator.

Log out then log back in. You should have access.

Just in case it doesn’t still work right, contact Todd the Administrator as stated by John above. Here is an Owners Manual just in case.

Yep I'm a donator now! :) Thanks, guys.

No issues with the code (though it still throws the message), now it's a check engine light. Bike has only 600 or so miles. I'm amazed at this bike so far, I've had 6 or 8 Guzzis and this one is suprisingly great - power, handling, brakes. A bit afraid about dragging the pegs here where I live on the Pacific Coast highway, but so far so good.
