Over the last forty-some years, I've had to pull a rear wheel while on tour because of a flat or self-destructing tire a number of times. Saves about a hundred bucks if you simply hand the wheel to the shop for a new tire, as opposed to having them pull it off the bike.
On the '22 V7, the rear axle nut (26MM) fits into a kind of "well" on the left side of the swing arm. Only way to get at it is with a socket. Fine at home in my own shop, but on the road I'd love to be able to use a flat 26mm box wrench, which would fit nicely into my tool wrap.
My question: Has anyone tried flipping the axle so the nut would be on the right side of the swing arm and therefor accessible? The well seems to have enough diameter to accept the cap end...
Thanks in advance for any info!
