I was just putting my 2012 Stelvio away for the night and unfortunately didn't notice the trickle charger wire was caught under the centre stand and it got squashed and shorted. Smoke came out of the connection which I pulled apart as quickly as I could. Now the engine won't turn over - no connection at all. All the other electrics work and both of the main fuses (30 and 40 amp under the seat and the RHS sidecover) are fine. Any idea what might have been affected and where to look. There is a DSB 08 error code but haven't looked that up yet

Any help greatly appreciated.

Is you chatging connection straight to the battery of through the under seat accessory connection? Strange, the DSB 08 is an oil pressure fault. Did you check the engine cut off switch? If all fuses are good that is all I can think of.

Got your email on this as well... Take the bike off the stand and try to start it in your normal routine, and see if it turns over. I suspect something simple like a kick-stand/neutral switch keeping it from doing so. Let us know.
Oil pressure sensor error is likely just from a no start turn-over. Happens frequently.

Many thanks for the replies. Haven't done a full start yet (too early for the neighbours) but it will turn over now. Sidestand was the issue.

Re the oil pressure code. Yes it has happened before and I cleared it after reading the forum. I have a new switch - should I install it while I have access or is it just a quirk that will re-appear anyway

The 07 code usually indicates a faulty sensor. The 08 code trips when you have pressure and you shouldn't or don't have pressure when you should. I'd say the sensor in the bike is OK.

I have just bought a 2014 Stelvio NTX. The two 12 volt sockets only appear to work when the ignition is on. I want to trickle charge the bike with my Optimate, but cannot. Is this normal or do I have a fault?

Thanks guys

re trickle charger snafu...

Once upon a time, I connected the trickle charger in reverse polarity and left it for a day...
Next day I noticed the error and reconnected it correctly. The battery charged up as if nothing had happened.
Apparently the charger is smarter than me... it shut down until I corrected it. The battery was not connected to anything else at the time.

Battery Tender... thank you.

Alex
