I somehow had it this summer, riding in 40*C (100 F +) heat, in my leathers.
They are just fine untill 30*C, but I really want something more comfortable for the annual Mediterrainian rides.
I've found some US Tourmaster clothing netwise, which maybe will fill my needs, but need advice, since the closest dealer, according to customer services, is found in Johannesburg, South Africa.......
Does anybody have experience with any of the models, for riding in the heat?
Or maybe some better suggestions?
Some of you must be riding in desert climate?
Light, ventilated and bright colored.
I haven't found that golden egg at anything like a reasonable price over here.

I really do want to wear the gear when riding.

It's expensive but I wear a BMW Santiago suit in white/blue. Lots of zippered vents and a mesh lining keep it cool. Not waterproof but shower resistant and with up-to-date armour. I didn't pay full price, I just kept watching fleabay until discounted items came along.

Re: Advice needed on Tourmaster/ hot weather cloth

I use a Dri-Rider mesh jacket in the heat with draggin jeans. My jacket has a plastic removable water proof liner, which when removed allows excellent airflow and you stay cool as can be expected in the heat. It has back, elbow and shoulder protection.

Does it work? Well thankfully I don't know about a slide, but I can attest that with a high side, I ended up with only broken ribs and collarbone. No injuries to the padded areas, but that is most likely the way the crash happened.

As for the pant area, in a separate crash where I slide for what seemed an eternity, the jeans did the job and I had only bruising. On that occasion I was wearing a heavy winter Dri-Rider jacket and I it felt "comfortable" while sliding - no injuries or scratches on this occassion.

Holt, I hope the feedback is of use to you. I won't recommend them because each crash is different, I can only report my experiences.

BTW just for the record - slide = totaled Susuki, high side = UNblemished B11 (don't ask)

cheers

Robert

I've got the Tourmaster Intake Air 2. Very comfortable in hot weather. Decent armor in the elbows and shoulders, and it is positioned well. There are some snaps that let you cinch the arms to keep the armor in place. They do a good job. As a bonus the jacket includes a wind/rain liner and an insulated liner too. Haven't tried it in the wet. The liners are compact and make for a good package if the hot weather turns on you.

Another vote for the Tourmanter air suit. I live in Dallas Texas and wear it all the time in warm weather. Looks good, fits good I like it very much.

So;

The Tourmasters seems to work in a hot climate; I'm finding the pricing very fair.
Probably - as BMW - proudly made in PRC?
No doubt that BMW or Revi't are OK, but comparing prizes are not to their advantage, specially if I'll use the gear one month a year. Rarely that hot up here. :(
How are sizes? Reliable, or should I go for for a larger or a smaller size, compared to - well, what; what's usual bought?

Re:Advice needed on Tourmaster/ hot weather clothe

The BMW gear is proudly made in Eastern Europe. Good thing about them is that on the BMW site there's a comprehensive fitting guide that seems to be accurate. My rule of thumb for any clothing is if in doubt get the next size up, you can always take the seams in but you can't always let them out.

I can see you really do mean that!

I cannot find the "Santiago" model on any European site, it'sprobably not manufactured any more. Mayby in connection with the move to a new contractor in Shanghai.... B)
(BMW are selling an "Airflow" gear. It's priced at about

The fit on the Tourmaster jacket is a bit tricky. I bought XL and am 5'11" and 200lb. Fits comfortably. the jacket is sized properly with both liners installed, but when you remove the liners for summer use the jacket fits much looser. If you were buying it for summer only and don't plan on using the liners, I would buy a smaller size.

Scott

Thanks!

Am same length, but 30 lbs less, so it should be perfect even with a liner.

Re:Advice needed on Tourmaster/ hot weather clothe

Yes, I think the Santiago is discontinued however there are still plenty of pieces on EvilBay. I got my jacket from the US and the pants from the UK. I just took my time and waited for the right piece at the right price and ended up saving about one third off the retail price. Why did I choose BMW? Not for the status! It had the safety features I needed, it was the lightest colour I could find and it has plenty of ventilation. I don't deliberately ride in the rain so waterproof was not high on the list of priority.

Check out the First Gear stuff.
Our Mesh Tex works well, Yellow Jacket, Black Pants. ( Why Black for HOT weather gear ?)
just do not let the trousers touch the exhaust :woohoo:
Obviously the air blasts straight through, apart from the padded areas, so we carry seperate raingear.
Probably would have to be replaced after any kind of slide.
However it is a great improvement over the " Jeans & T shirt "

Take Care Out There

And, to prove a point - despite the temp at 8am, mgmomma still has the jacket on even when off the bike; kind of proves something.

Another vote for Tourmaster. I recently purchased the Sonora 3/4 lenght Air Jacket. Recent temperatures here in the Valley have been 100+. This jacket without the liners (windbreaker/water resistant liner or quilted liner) is as comfortable is I think it can get for any jacket with full armor (including back pad). I had been wearing a Dianese mesh jacket, and the Tourmaster feels like it lets in more air. I've very pleased, especially for under $200.

Thank you all for concerning.
Being too unsure of sizes, the fact that light colored trousers isn't available in long version, and all the trouble it would be to change if the size was wrong, I chickened out, and went for a Dutch Rev'it suit. Build similar with 2 detachable liners, and mesh inserts.
As I got a 40% off didn't make things worse.

Feels like it should be tolerable in the heat, though not as ventilated as the Tourmaster appears to be.

I bought a Revit Turbine jacket and pants for this summer and so far I am well pleased.

As I can see you've got/are expecting/had (no clue where you are in time... ) 36* today (..yesterday, tomorrow?)
I may have reason to be satisfied. :D

Actually yesterday and today (6am brekky time here now) and probably the next day as well.

I had a Dri Rider mesh jacket (the one in the avatar) and the thing was just hopeless. The choice came down to the Turbine or the BMW Air. At the time the BMW Air was not that good for the money they wanted, so the Turbine got the nod. But since then the Air has had a face lift and The Minister went with it and I recon it is now better than the Turbine, so just a tad jealous

At first I thought it was not mesh enough and air flow would be restricted and it would therefore be hot, but actually for some reason it is better than the Dri Rider. Possibly because too much air flow on the skin is also a bad thing.

Being a confirmed Gear Junkie I will be interested in your comments on the Revit.
