Just got it firing!
Approximately 10 years ago I purchased (on a whim) a 1985 T-5 with 12,500 miles on the clock. I have been deployed overseas the entire time so once a year or so the Guzzi gets ridden around the block. I just came home and started working on the machine. It fired up first spin of the starter. It has 13000 miles on it now. I drained all the old (clean) lubricants and changed all the fluids. I just installed a new alternator (EnDuraLast 450) which works great. The switches for the turn signals and lights seem to be FUBAR, I can only imagine wiring and switches will give me an irregular heartbeat. Ohm meter and test light will get a work out. I am looking forward to putting this little sled back on the road. I was going restore it to mint, but decided to leave all scratches and cracks in place and keep the original patina. The T-5 may well be the ugliest Guzzi ever conceived, but they do ride respectably. If I can't live with the hideous looks, I could always go off the rails and bob it. I doubt there is a vibrant market for original T-5's, but I could be wrong. I will be checking in here for wisdom and insight on parts acquisition. Art
