Hi All - hope this is in the right place.. I have a 2017 MGX21 and need a workshop manual picture of how to replace a clutch lever ... it's kind of crazy but here in Victoria, Australia, if a motorcycle is considered a write off there is a whole process to get it back on the road and one of the things they are insisting on is the manufacturers instructions for replacing any parts replaced.. I had to replace teh LH handlebar and clutch lever. I have the Service Manual and it has very detailed pictures and instructions for a lot of things but not the clutch lever... (or the handlebar). THis was it when I got it at auction - the actual tube the switch and grip attach to had pulled through the aluminium riser and the clutch lever was broken. Otherwise I could have ridden it away...

Let me know ifd there is a manual that has some instructions to replace the clutch lever ..for the Roads Dept not me =)

You need to grind off the bottom of the pivot pin underneath (a dremel is ideal) then push out the pin. Replacement levers usually come with a new pin and locknut.

Unfortunately, the Factory Service Manuals, are NOT WRITTEN for owners and inexperienced mechanics. They are written for seasoned and highly skilled mechanics, as a REFERENCE guide only.

Although there are more detailed sections for engine, transmission and electrical, there is not going to be the RIDICULOUS information your government authority is asking of you.

No manufacture writes that type of “instructions”.

Bloody Australia, the biggest nanny country in the world, run by morons. Some of these people shouldn't be allowed to be in charge of an office chair.

Thanks for your reply - I totally agree - I'm not sure how I can get around it - the best UI can find so far is a diagram that tells you the torque settings...

LOL - I think nowadays only VIC and SA even have such a thing as 'repairable writeoff' I know NSW only has Statutory writeoff now - what a waste of good machinery.

I actually did a Suzuki GSX1400 about 10 years ago and it was very simple then - they basically just checked the frame and engine number were the same as in the paperwork and you were good to go.. I had modified the exhaust headlights footpegs - all from Ebay - now I have to get the fairing painted by a 'professional motorcycle repairer'

Thanks for your reply , I didn't have any issue actually replacing the lever - the issue is with the Victorian Transport Authority who now require all sorts of documentation to support the Inspection.....
