Hi folks,
Had the Breva 1100 a while now after purchasing it from a friend a little while back - my friend owned it for years. I said please give me the first opportunity to buy it and he did. Just a lovely lovely bike and that engine...what a peach...

There are 65,000 miles on the clock and I'm due to give it a service next month and probably replace the alternator belt whilst I'm in there. A new clutch is needed at some point in the near future too. I've done plenty of BMW clutches, I'm sure this one is relatively straightforward too, particularly with the manual.

Yes, the 1100 Breva is a great bike. I have one and don't see the need for a new bike. Some special tools help in doing the clutch. Before you go into replacing the clutch, try a clutch fluid change.

Thank you John - I do have some other bikes, but always attracted to the Guzzi v-twin engine. Thank you for your advice on changing the clutch fluid - I appreciate it 🤣

If I give the bike plenty of throttle, the clutch slips. If the engine gets hotter, say due to slow traffic, the clutch slips.
It may be the fluid isn't goingback and there is still some pressure in the system. Fluid change may correct that. If not, then a clutch replacement is needed. The clutch design should hold up for well over a hundred miles. It may have had a hard life, or the gearbox input seal or clutch push rod seals are leaking oil onto the clutch plates.

Lovely bike, I bought one new in 07 and have never been able to justify a replacement :) It's always performed as expected, and in all these years I have had precisely one failure - a throttle position sensor. you can find my troubleshooting adventure detailed on this site if you're curious.

the GTM fueling package was a significant improvement - better throttle response, smoother and cooler running. highly recommended.

I also have a 2007 Breva 1100, like riding the bike out on the road but in town is a bummer with the way it surges between 2000/3000 rpm. Is the GTM fueling package a firmware reflash for the ECU?

It is, yea, and it much improves things - but to be honest I don't remember much surging even when stock... that might be some other issue. Possibly I just didn't ride much in that range, this motor likes to rev. I do remember it liked to ping when lugging the motor like that, especially when hot.

after the tuning, I can certainly motor around at any speed, and do anything with the throttle, it's become very tolerant. want to open the throttle to full at 1500 rpm? just hang on :)
