In Oct. 2010 we had an informal get-together of Stelvio and Quota owners (others joined as well), shall we pencil something in again? All are welcome.

NEW DATES are Nov. 2-4th - accommodations are up to you, but most of us will be based out of Furnace Creek Resort.

Re: Death Valley Get-Together in Sept or Oct?

I can't believe it, but I still have never been to DV. So, count me in. I'm guessing October would be preferable, heat-wise?

Re: Death Valley Get-Together in Sept or Oct?

Excellent Robert, and Mike, yes... the temp range when we went last, was low of ~55º-75º as a high. A few weeks earlier would have been perfect. So pencil it in for the last weekend of Sept. 28-30th (Almanac says it's a good one for the last several years) or ?

Re: Death Valley Get-Together in Sept or Oct?

I love Death Valley, would love to go even without an on/off road bike, though I'm out last 2 weekends in Sept. FYI, per accuweather average daily highs there in Sept are 100 or more, down to mid 80's by end of Oct. You guys camp, or stay where? Furnace Creek, Beatty?

Re: Death Valley Get-Together in Sept or Oct?

I know and have photographed Death Valley A LOT ... so I can show you some stuff most people don't see. I for one camp. That is one reason I bought the Stelvio. I am taking her on her first camping trip this weekend and I'm finding out very quickly how little room I have (sigh). I WILL find room for my Yellow Tail Cabernet however! I'm going to Joshua Tree NP for the first trip. Something close so I can find out what works and what doesn't.

Can't wait to meet you guys and ride with other Guzzi's. I have never seen a Guzzi around here and I'm really pleased to hear there are people so close!

Re: Death Valley Get-Together in Sept or Oct?

It's on the calendar. I missed the last one and hope to do better this time.

Joshua Tree had to be freezing cold last weekend.

Re: Death Valley Get-Together in Sept or Oct?

It was dang cold! It would not have been so bad if it wasn't for the wind chill. The wind must have been 40mph+ and the snow on Sunday was a bit of a surprise!

But still a great trip!

Re: Death Valley Get-Together in Sept or Oct?

Have yet to do a Guzzi trip and never visited DV on either 2 or 4 wheels. So love to join if there's room. Looking forward to taking the Jackal out on it's first overnight stretch.

Re: Death Valley Get-Together - Sep. 28-30th

Will definitely need to get out of the house by then. I will plan on it.

Re: Death Valley Get-Together - Sep. 28-30th

Thanks for the reminder Keith. Brian, look at the last weekend in Sept on the Almanac. Last year, the first weekend in Oct. was quite chilly, especially early and late day.

Re: Death Valley Get-Together - Sep. 28-30th

I would like to go. But for me it will be a last minute thing. Just to look around a bit and say hi. Of course, off road is out.
Right now, it's just too darned hot to to have fun riding.

Re: Death Valley Get-Together - Sep. 28-30th

Is this still on?

I noticed weather.com saying it's gonna be triple digits in DV this coming weekend during the day and cooling off to the high 70's at night.

Re: Death Valley Get-Together - Sep. 28-30th

I'm still planning to go on Friday afternoon. I'd like to know that I'm not the only one.

Keith

All, we're certainly in a heat wave for this time of the year... should we postpone until a later weekend?
