Final Drive Gear Oil Leaks V7 & V9

Sounds like you have a great dealer. Dave Blunk of Sport Cycle Pacific by any chance?
Dave hasn’t been a dealer in quite some time. Anyone here chat with him in the last few years? His website is down, but Google still has them open.

Bought my first Moto Guzzi from Dave, Daytona RS.

Here we go!.....4.5hr ride out on my new V85TT and take a look at the rear wheel....the rear drive is leaking. I'm going to drop the oil out and measure. I read the 2019 MG bulletin and it recommends re-using the oil, not sure on this unless they put a moly additive in there.

A few hours later.... and here's my findings after only 200 miles from new....drained 190cc of oil and it's black. This suggests moly is in there from factory and why they recommend leaving in for 18,600 miles. So do I put in fresh oil or not?

Hope your blocked vent is the correct diagnosis, Had a similar issue on the V65 years ago and found the cast iron drive to the wheel had worn at the seal. Tried rebuilds with speedy sleeve but eventually would leak again (not good as on that model as rear disc is mounted to the drive). Eventually I found a new replacement iron drive which stopped the leak straight away and has been leak free since. Can only put it down to a soft casting originally.

Put in the recommended 160cc of new oil. That was too much oil and might have been the issue.
Similar experience with my 2023 V7. One incident of small amount of oil spitting out on the rear wheel. The dealer refilled to specs. A couple thousand Ks later, no repeat of the problem.
