OK Wayne but you must admit that it was a real nice coincidence!:)
And if it is just water then why didn't it fail again during the 75 minutes while I kept on riding back home...

BTW I was so much drenched that night that I parked the bike in the garage expecting a lot of cleaning work the next day. But there was so much rain that night that all the roads were cleaned after a while and it was only pure rain water all over (which is the best water as everyone knows), so when I got back to the garage in the morning I was shocked! You couldn't even see the slightest water mark on the windshield and on the fairing... NOTHING! I think I need to ride in bad weather more often!:lol:
 
A further update.
I noticed over the last couple of weeks that people have been flashing their headlamps at me, I've only ridden in daylight but I'm guessing that the lamps are out of adjustment. I recently called in with the bike to the dealer having just been pulled over by the cops who suggested that my headlights were out of adjustment (they just advised me to get them checked)
The bike was taken into the workshop and put on the MOT headlamp alighnment checker; guess what?? both lamps are directed across to the other side of the road, no wonder drivers are flashing me, just as well I've not been out at night. The mechanic reckons the bike has been fitted with the wrong light unit so a new one was supposed to be put on order. For the last 3 weeks I've been riding around on a bike that is illegal - defective speedo and defective lights......I'm not impressed at the moment, I'm wondering how long it will take for the bike to become road legal.
I made a phone call to the dealer this morning to ask for an update and was told that the headlamps are of a universal flat beam type so there are no country specific lights, so it must be a case of adjustment. Still no sign of the speedo sensor either. This is not a good start of my Moto Guzzi experience. Despite all this I'm still loving the ride and reckon I've done almost a thousand miles now although odometer only showing 468 miles. More flippin' faults in three weeks than five years with my old BMW GS1150:(
 
Mine has a flat cutoff.

Be aware that the preload adjustment on the rear shock has a HUGE impact on the location of the cutoff.

It may simply need the preload knob set for you.

Sorry to hear you feel disappointed. Maybe a few simple things, like the dealer adjusting the suspension or lights, and the dealer sealing the sensor, would improve the impression of the bike for you a lot. IMHO, any dealer should know by simply shining the light on a wall that it is a flat cutoff, and should be able to adjust the suspension (or lights) in a few seconds. For that matter, they should have checked it before it rolled out the door.
 
Fatal out of curiosity who is the dealer. As there seems to be so many new or relatively new moto guzzi dealers about its hard to know who knows what they are doing. Some of the prices I was quoted for the first service were ridiculous and the vibe I got from some dealers were if you did not buy the bike from us go hang. Each website I go on has some horror story or other and it makes you think is bike ownership worth all the hassle. I mean would anyone pay to have a car serviced at every 6000 miles and change tyres at 5000 miles I don`t think so. Basically if you buy a new bike you are taking pot luck and hope fully if there is a problem you have a dealer who can sort it out. I have had no trouble as yet and a great dealer Moto ecosse but for all the enjoyment I am getting from the bike if it plays up and I don`t get the service it requires the bike is history.Chipper
 
The dealer is Millenium motorcycles in St Helens. I used them as they are only about 5 miles away, I've a mate who works there, and more importantly they gave me the best deal.
Idealy I would have preferred a 'proper' Guzzi specialist but they all seem to be too far away. I don't know why it's taking so long for them to get hold of a speedo sensor and heated grips, the arrangement is that these will be sorted at the first service, which is now due. I'm away to Spain and Portugal on a bike touring holiday on the 21st for 2 weeks but I'm going on my Triumph 1050 Tiger, so I'm hoping everything will be ready when I return. If not I'll be well pissed off:angry:
 
I did a test ride on a Norge at Millenium, good to start with, bought me breakfast then tried to take the p!ss with the offer on my Sprint as p/x......offered me a part-time job organising test/ride-outs.....for the "privilege" of riding different bikes.....:laugh:
`kin amateurs :P Thats the sales side, workshop could be entirely different though.

Went to Shorrocks, Penwortham and got everything I wanted and more...like a breath of fresh air.....workshop and parts lads very obliging, discount me usually 10% on parts and 7 day delivery......so far so good...:)

I think once I've had the first service and got these irritating problems sorted I may well use Shorrocks for the 12 month/6000mile service. The problem is Shorrocks is about 25 miles away, I don't fancy hanging about the shop for a few hours, do they have any loan bikes?
