Headlight Bulbs - Single Filament or Dual?... and about those Hella fogs...

Want to upgrade the headlight bulbs on my 2016, something little whiter little stronger but stay with Halogen and not go to LED. I just feel like putting an LED into a reflector housing designed to optically be for Halogens doesn't throw the LED light cleanly. Plus as I understand it, it's tough to find a good quality LED with a reliable heat sink and fan combo.

Do I need single filament H4's or the dual filament type for the high beams to still work? Looking for recommendations. Osram Night Breaker? PIAA? Is there a good proven bulb that's sold here?

As for the fogs, at 750 miles total on the odometer yesterday the port side Hella fog light is OUT. I expected issues with the OEM fogs, but not this soon. Not going to fuss around with them probably going to replace them with a pair of Rizoma's or something equivalently good. Open to recommendations on that as well. LED fogs and Halogen headlights lit in combo are a good eye catcher for motorists, the color temp differences help you stand out I think.

No matter choosing Rizoma or any other premium brand Fog light, you will continue having issues IMHO as long as you run them on the engine guards. Todd (GT-Rx) is just about wrapping up custom brackets to address this known issue, that mount off the engine guard. Email him for clarification or look to the GT Store soon. I had www.gtmotocycles.com remove the OEM Fog Lights and de-tab the engine guards and re-powder coat them. Not only is it a cleaner look but I know my Rizoma fog lights will run for years to come trouble free. Good luck... :)

2016 Stelvio NTX 1200. Thought i'd put it in a signature in the profile... I didn't. Just fixed it, sig created.

I went with Denalis over 10K miles ago & have not had any issues mounting them on the crash bars. It may not be the most optimal place, but it works.

So I've got 12 volts. I'm grounding the multimeter to the ground lead in the light assembly and showing 12v at the supply lead inside the rubber boot. Will try a new H3 bulb but the filament appears intact and the bulb's wire lead appears okay too.

Halogen bulbs do not handle vibration well in general. They have improved over the years, but LEDs would be a step up on the fogs / driving lights.
I found the Hellas to be lacking in quality in general.

Agreed. After having had the weather boot off multiple times fiddling with bulbs it's apparent these aren't the highest quality pieces. Going to see how long they go, would like to wait until next summer before swapping in complete new lighting units. If Todd gets the frame mounting worked out then i may remove the crash bars altogether as I think they are aggravating engine harmonic vibration from approximately 3600 - 4200 rpm. I've snugged them up at all bolt-on points as much as I dare. Helped some but not totally.

In other news, almost dropped it in the garage this afternoon trying to get it up on the ctr stand, started to tip starboard on a failed attempt but was able to stop it before leverage got the best of me. Lesson learned on that <wipes forehead>
