Just got it firing!
My Stornello has been ailing. Suffering from the ubiquitous 3K RPM stumble and gag.
The bike had been running great... Todd's map fixed the cold bloodedness and snatchy low speed throttle. Then, suddenly it started popping and gagging.
The poor run-ability corresponded with the wet weather of fall and winter. Must be the common spark plug boot issue. A set of NGK plugs and boots failed to improve matters. Ah, the factory spec disintegrating fuel filter. Soon swapped with an all metal unit, the vent check valve bypassed for good measure... still no dice.
Then, in a moment of clarity I used the Guzzi Tech tool to read codes. Sure enough - my Lambda sensors were unhappy. After five minutes of un-tucking the leads, then unplugging - the Guzzi was exorcised. Pulling smoothly through the previously grim RPM range. Tonight I'll yank those suckers off and toss them into the "return to stock" box. Find a suitable stubby bolt to fill the holes, and ride off into a slightly less environmentally friendly sunset.
Seemed prudent to document my mini adventure as searching turned up a legion of poorly running V7's with many, many ideas - less solved cases.
